 Topic: Very annoying thing.....

The ONE and ONE only thing about Epiphone that I hate is the fact that every time someone buys an Epiphone Les Paul Custom, its screwed up in some way. My had alot of fret buzz, my dads pick-ups didn't pick up treble, at all and my friends neck wasn't straight. If any one nos why contact me!

That's why I don't buy Epiphones. They are pretty cheap guitars, made
in Korea and shipped by boat to America in most cases. The cheaper
materials don't go well with the conditions in the boat (rough
handling, too high humidity etc.). The quality of the instrument also depends a lot on which factory it is built in.

I've got an Epiphone G400 and I've never had any fret buzz problems despite the very low action I tend to use, the pickups work perfectly and the neck isn't warped. Thats a bit odd because the Les Paul Custom costs quite a bit more than the humble G400.

I would always recommend to buy a Gibson Les Paul Standard (Studio) instead of an Epiphone Les Paul Custom ...

I find you have to be really careful in buying Epiphone. You have to play them for a while in a music store to find out if the flaws are fixable, so buying online is not a good idea. I'd recommend playing one for a while, come back the next day and play it again before buying. The workmanship is, at best, hit and miss.
I have a LP jr. It's a few years old with the P90. I got it so that I could have it handy in the living room and not worry about visitors' finger prints, dog knocking it over, etc. I lucked out, it's a great sounding guitar for a suprisingly cheap price. The Epi Jr's I see now are much lower quality, you'd have to search longer for a gem.
I want to get a Casino but the quality of the Les Pauls are making me reluctant.

Having had a Gibson Les Paul Studio years ago and discovering how heavy it was I played Fenders for a long time, till I discovered Ibanez and the Ibanez Artist series. They are good quality, reasonably priced, and hold up well at gigs. The AR200 I play now when I need something like a Les Paul tone weighs about 1/2 as much (it's a double cutaway) and after I had Carvin pick-ups installed in it it just screams sustain...

to put it simply Epiphone's just aren't very good at all if you want a les paul you'll have to but the real thing not some cheap imatation

i have had an Epiphone les paul custom for about 4 years, it sounds excellent, and i've never had any trouble with it, it stays in tune perfectly,never buzzes, hardly ever needs tuning, never had anything but good sounds clean and distorted, so i guess i must have got a good 'un! 
but next time i have £1,500 lying around i may consider getting a "real" one!!
i tried an SG once, it looked great but wasn't as good as the LP.
