I just re-listened to Bath tonight and read the lyrics along to it.  It was shocking, disturbing, paralyzing and simultaneously moving.  I was literally moved to tears.  It was one of the most poignant experiences I can say I've ever had with an album.  In short... Maudlin of the Well are bloody brilliant.

So, I want to get some love for MotW going.  Discuss.

"Bath" is quite possibly the best prog-metal album I've heard (not a big fan of the genre, admittedly), so I can definitely share your enthusiasm.

It's amazing how effortlessly they blend several styles together - styles that shouldn't have anything in common at first sight.

I seriously need to get my hands on "Leaving Your Body Map".

I really tried to like that album, I really wanted to... It just didn't work at all. Maybe if the singing wasn't so poor and off-key most of the time... maybe if the combination of styles was done more fluidly, more coherently, without giving me the feeling of something "looked for"... maybe I would like it. Kayo Dot is a more mature affair in my opinion and I'll stick to them for the time being.

I was actually listening to Kayo Dot right after turning on the computer.

motW where a great band! I really like their Bath album. Geography is one of the most emotional songs I've ever heard. Toby's voice is part of why I like them alot too along with their really soft and mellow songs. Leaving Your Body Map is another great album, but I still prefer Bath (check out my immature reviews). I still need to get their debut.

My Fruit Psychobells is great.... but I'd probably say it's my least favorite of their three.  It's certainly the lowest quality in terms of recording quality.  But all in all, it's a magnificent album just not as fully realized and polished as Bath and Leaving Your Body Map.

I agree that My Fruit... is not as good as the other two, in places amateurish and in performance quite lacking, not to mention the production, but I can't imagine being the same me without having heard all the songs on that album.

^^^ Thanks. I would still buy it even though it's their weakest. Curiosity is one of the reasons. I wan't to have their whole discography as well.

Doesn't look like the debut though (unless it is the "bonus" mentioned).

Check out Kayo Dot's Myspace.  They were selling a few copies of My Fruit Psychobells a few months ago.  They might still have some.  :)
