Topic: Montreal DrumFest 2006, 11-12 november Posted: October 18 2006 at 19:35 |
BILL BRUFORD, originally from King Crimson, Yes and so on, will come to play for us at the 14 th ediition of the Montreal DrumFest. On the 11 and 12 th of november, 13 drummers from around the world will come to show their skills and their own drumming styles, alone or with their band. Many styles; jazz, rock, prog.etc...
This edition will be fun to attend, not only for Bill Bruford, but also for Todd Sucherman, drummer from Styx, Mark Kelso from Belfast who played in the past with Pete Townsend, for Gavin Harrison and many more.
You can check on the official website of this festival. You should be able to read everything in french and in english too. If you are living around Montreal, and if you have time, come to this fest. You won't regret it, believe me.
Salut de Sylvie

I went to the DrumFest this week end. This 14 th edition was very great and far better that what I was expected. A lot of great musicians, playing a lot of music style all week end; from Jazz to Funk, fusion jazz to some prog. with Harrison, Bruford and Sucherman, cuban and latin rythm. Great Drumming and each one of them has his own style, but everyone of them were very happy to be there this week end, including Mr.Bruford him self.
Next year, we hope to have a certain Carl Palmer on the list. They are working on this and Carl is aware of that he has to come here one day or another.

Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree. He played some Porcupine Tree but also some funk, jazz and african beat.
Enjoy. I was first row, but on the balcony. So, I did my best in those circumstances.

Todd Sucherman, Styx drummer. A very talented drummer, with his own style. He played for us Superman from Styx, and several other genre of music. Very interesting to watch and to listen. Agressive with a prog.touch of his own.
