Children actually do believe he exists, Sinterklaas gives presents away to good children and you have loads of special Sinterklaas songs.

quite true, "Sinterklaas" later became "Santa Claus" or "Father Christmas" in Britain, they are one and the same!Smile

Also many of our Christmas traditions came from Germany, Prince Albert (husband of Queen Victoria)  introduced the Christmas Tree in the living room. I often imagine what happened when he suggested it - "What?? - a tree in the Parlour?? utterly ridiculous!!!"LOL  latterly the set of " 6 candles in the window " comes from Scandinavia, a tradition there to guide lost travellers in the snow.

Fred I hope Father Christmas gives you your wish. My Christmas wish actually will be released starting in March 2007 with the 5.1 versions of the Genesis catalogue. It'll be nice to hear The Lamb... in surround sound.

To coincide with the Genesis tour, EMI Records will be re-issuing 14
Genesis studio albums in three stages during 2007. All the releases
will be SACD/DVD double disc sets featuring newly re-mastered 5.1
surround sound and stereo mixes. The release schedule is as follows:

March 2007: A Trick Of The Tail (1976), Wind & Wuthering (1977), …And
Then There Were Three…(1978), Duke (1980) Abacab (1981)

June/July 2007: Genesis(1983), Invisible Touch(1986), We Can't Dance
(1991), Calling All Stations(1997)

Late 2007/Early 2008: Trespass (1970), Nursery Cryme (1971), Foxtrot
(1972 ), Selling England By The Pound (1973), The Lamb Lies Down On
Broadway(1974).

Remasters?!?

Shame on you - you should be dusting off your scratchy original vinyl versions & complaining bitterly that they sound "warmer" than these new fangled CDs. Any more of this behaviour & you'll be thrown out of the Grey Room, and into the wilderness of THE VELVET ROOM wherein you'll be torn asunder by these younger types...

Not sure that I have a problem with the CD's but remasters always worry me a bit, as does putting an original 2 track recording into 5.1 surround sound. My worry is that the remix will spoil my memory and enjoyment of the original; you shouldn't try to change history.

Perhaps I'm just a sad old git who should stick to posting in the Grey Room. Err, hang on....
