Topic: What DT song to cover? Posted: November 11 2006 at 11:13 |
We're going to cover a DT song, to probably be released as a bonus track whenever we begin recording stuff, and to play at live shows.
We just don't know what one to fly with out of the songs we can play or want to learn...

Why not play an older song ... Learning to Live is awesome, and really fun to play.

The Glass Prison out of these. But I agree with Mike that Learning to Live would be a better choice.

wow, your band must be insane to be doing any of thses Well, though my favorite out of those is The Root of All Evil, I think In the Name of God would be jaw dropping live

Good luck with that. Out of those listed go with The Glass Prison. Another good one to try would be the Dance of Eternity.

From this list, I'd go with The Glass Prison. But to me, DT's ultimate live song is Under a Glass Moon. You'd kill with that one.
edit: OOPS. I meant to say "from that list, I'd go with The Root of all Evil", the song for which I voted. My bad.

glass prison if your band is a metallica-wannabe.... THE worst song by Dream theater
of the mentioned ones, In the Name of God stands tall above all the rest (try covering something from their earlier albums, or even octavarium....not six degrees!!!)

DT is the ultimate band to cover, Creation Curve. They are the God's of prog. metal. As for why they're all new songs, it's because we all prefer DT's newer stuff to their old stuff. But if we had to choose an old song it would either be Learning to Live, Under a Glass Moon or Space-Dye Vest.
