With that set list on their website, this would undoubtedly be an essential DVD. They need one- I was disappointed with all the DVDs of theirs I had.

I#d lke to know ( from any of you who's been there 9 if
a) Craig Fletcher is singing lead on "Cheap the Bullet" again or if John Lees does it ( I think i's better with John singing the lead )
b) Does John play the WAH-WAH-guitar n "For Noone or is it like on "Revival" ?
c) Who's singing the lead on "If Love is King", John or Woolly ? I've heard that ths song was included because WOOLLY wanted to do it !
I hope it's not too much for you to give me that information !

From other peoples' comments [I get to see the band later this week yay ![]() a) Craig b) don't know c) Woolly The JLBJH website http://www.barclayjamesharvest.com/ has a place for gig reviews and photos. Joolz PS - Woolly's got ASC [A Stinking Cold] ![]() PPS - favourite comment ..... "Woolly, leaping, lurching, waving, glasses-adjusting, hair-waving was brilliant, completely bonkers of course – but able to generate such spine-tingling moments with his playing. " |

Rupert
Further to above, we can now answer b) no wah-wah, it's cut quite short AND Woolly appears to sing the song ...... ![]() See for yourself, as a fan has posted it to MySpace - poor sound and vision and the band sound a bit ropey, but ..... http://collect.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=1377615503 |

Hope Woolly will get well soon...

Just got back from last nights JLBJH gig at Wolverhampton, my reviewing abilities aren't good enough to write a full review so I thought it'd be best to just post a short message here.
The fan convention was very enjoyable I won't go into the full full details but the Q&A session with John and Woolly was rather amusing and I'm happy to report that I'm now the proud owner of 3 albums signed by John and Woolly ![]() The gig was fantastic and Woolly seemed to have recovered from his cold as his singing was very good as was his playing. John's guitar and singing sounded great all evening. The rest of the band did a fantastic job as well. The support provided one of the most humourous parts of the evening when the electric spoons disappeared in the maze of cabling on the stage. I hope they tour again soon. Glad you enjoyed it. I trust MEL was behaving itself [apparently went out of tune near the end of one gig - Colchester I think] My review of the Norwich UEA gig is on the reviews page http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=30914 |

MEL seemed to be behaving but one of the other keyboards wasn't Woolly had to fiddle with the controls a lot at one point.
Your review is far better than I could manage. |

I hope these shows have some sort of DVD representation. The set list is mouthwatering...
As for 'Berlin', it does nothing for me. The whole album has really blatantly obvious overdubs. I know the tapes were apparently unfixable but really, it sounds as if everything bar the vocals was recorded again on this album. Was that much really necessary?? |

Well, way back in April, I posted that I'd tried this band out via "Victims Of Circumstance" and that I wasn't knocked out. Easy Livin' and someone else recommended trying some of the earlier stuff. So, back to Tower (now that they're closing here in the US, they're discounting everything). I picked up XII over the weekend for about 9 bucks, and guys, I'm still not quite getting it. I want to. I certainly like it better than Victims, but I guess I'm waiting for that one song that unlocks it all for me. The style is generally right in tune with what I like, but I still haven't heard the song tht makes me say "Whoa ...that is IT." Obviously, I'm still willing to take another shot.
BTW, listening to the disc on the way into work, my wife asked if this was some early Alan Parsons Project album...

Well for me, I wouldn't really have gone for 'XII' either. It's a bit more commercial sounding than their earlier albums (and VOC was largely perceived by fans as their worst), despite having one of Woolly Wolstenholme's best songs 'In Search Of England'. I'd recommend 'Live', 'Once Again' and 'Octoberon', maybe 'Gone To Earth', as being the band at their very best.
