I'm not really a romanticist, but certainly silly.

I'll quote a passage from my welcome thread:

Manunkind now works as a gardener in one of the Martian Greenfriar monasteries. He says he's found his ghak there (Martian word meaning left hand glove absent-mindedly lost a long time ago) and so he feels complete. He doesn't want to go back.

You'll have to look for him there Big smile.

Nothing to do with Astronomy... I saw a program about him, but I can't remember where he's from, but I know it sounds like a lot of fun.

Thought maybe Manunkind was there too, but oh well...

Oh, but you are, all romanticists are extremely silly and ridiculous, we just take ourselves to damn seriously. For example, I went to a Boy Scout Camporee this weekend, and my tent partner (my ASPL) and I stayed up for five hours just talking about the girls we like, and other stupid stuff like love and the like. To an outside observer, this activity looks extremly silly, and looking back, it looks silly and obsesive to myself as well, but it is not the romanticists place to look at things like this logically.

(Oh, and on the second night, there might have been poker involved, every Boy Scout's survival kit should include a good deck of cards)

Um, I was in the tent with another GUY, and I don't lean that way. So stupid, the whole troop had such a good poker game going on, then staff shut us down. Something about being "past lights out" and "disturbing the camp" or some such crap.

Lights out is never when there are cookies, coblers, and shotguns!

Sorry to come back to this subject, but I've been away for a couple of days, and was unaware of the offense I'd caused by referencing such a despicable film whose only intent is clearly to undermine society's moral base.

Just a couple of things:

1 - when the two main characters get together, they are single men with no ties - the whole premise of the movie is what happens when they go their separate ways, and meet up later when their lives have changed completely. It's an age old story about old flames meeting again after years apart, given a new (subversive, evidently) twist.

2 - the story is beautifully told, scripted, filmed & acted.

3 - it is only a movie
