Sorry man, as much as I dislike most modern pop music, if a Lindsay Lohan song came on (perish the thought!
 ) and then follwed a disco song, I'd be longing for the Lohan song to return.

I remember when I was in junior high school, must have been 1979-80 and there was a kid who was a punk rocker. He was the only punker in the school as the rest of us were all rockers. One day he wore a t-shirt that had a muscled Thor looking character with a giant sword, and under the picture in big letters it said "DEATH TO DISCO!". I thought that was pretty cool.

Do you remember Steve Dahl's Death to Disco celebration at Komiskey Park in Chicago? He blew up a chunk of the outfield. I thought that was Great at the time. Now I find that Disco has tremendous camp appeal.

Not sure what I would choose, a r and b party or a disco one. Not only did I hated the music on school partys, they always played the long versions. Italo's they were called. The only different song they played was Ram Jam with Black Betty.

So I am the only one to remember the Jubbly, eh? I have to admit, I've not seen one since about 1971/1972:
The packaging was so tough, you'd break your teeth getting into it, by which time the effect of holding a huge (well, it seemed huge at the time... as did Wagon Wheels & Curly Wurlies) block of ice had given you 3rd degree frostbite... all for the dubious pleasure of sucking on frozen artificial colours & flavourings. |

in the disco in the 70's it was "Hi Ho Silver Lining" by Jeff Beck or "Smoke on the Water".
In Spain, it was "Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep".....ech!

I'll probably get pilloried for this but I do have a soft spot for the disco music of the seventies. Some of it was very well produced and at least people still played instruments.
The Hip Hop, R'n'B sampling era of today has very little talent involved and is far more about fashion and lifestyle than even disco was. There are one or two good artists who have something to offer; Eminem for instance is at least original and has some talent & The Goldie Lookin' Chain have a laugh and don't take it at all seriously. Most of them however will definitely be here today and gone tomorrow.
Most so called R'n'B tracks make me turn off the radio or leave the pub, it's probably the first music genre that I have actively tried to avoid.
Now real rythym and blues, that's a different story. Must see the Hamsters again soon. www.thehamsters.co.uk

I tried sticking my head in the sand when disco was the rage but it still got in the way of good music
 I remember going to nightclubs, paying the rip off price to get in, buying the rip off priced drinks and then having to leave because I couldn't handle the disco crap that they were playing. It was usually off to the Raffles Hotel in Perth then to catch some kind of live rock act ... not as many girls but the music was always much better.
I even had a windcheater made up with those iron-on letters with the slogan "Disco Rots The Brain" boldly emblazoned on the front. I wore it just about everywhere I went. I was working part time in a record shop back then and my boss hated me wearing that windcheater into the store!

Ousted by M&Ms in the 80s. Came in three varieties - peanut (yellow bag), toffee (pale blue bag at some point) and chocolate (brown bag). Near-spherical chocolate/nut/toffee lumps, "sealed in a crispy shell". The "cred" kids version of Poppets and such - very adult-type sweets in little cardboard boxes with a cereal-box-style opening at the top. Could be stored in the inside pocket of your suit without any risk of stains. Many moons ago Mars used to make 'Treets' fro the UK market. They came in 2 varieties 'Peanut' and 'Chocolate'. As the standardisation of markets took hold chocolate 'Treets' warped into 'Minstrels' with a no-melt coating and oblate spheroid shape. Later 'M&M's arrived being smaller in shape than 'Treets' in the same two flavours but now with waxy coloured coatings. I was wondering what happened to the pics of Jim Garten's shed??? I don't have a shed to speak of, But I am building a fence around my house. I started about a month ago and it is slow going because I'm doing it all by myself. It is about 150 linear feet with galvinized poles as the posts, And redwood for the rails. I just finished attaching the last of the rails yesterday and now I'm putting on a clear wood sealer. Once I have the rails coated I'll begin putting up the pickets and then I can build the three swinging gates . For The other two gates I used chain link. Here is a picture of me working on the rails.  I never knew M&M's had a different name in the UK. My favourite is M&M's and a Pepsi. |

I was originally going to use chain link at almost 300 linear feet, then I found out that the city I live in doesn't allow chain link anymore, only wood and block. So to keep cost down I had to make a much smaller fence. It is funny that you mentioned a body of water behind me, I think what you may be referring to in the picture is the roofline off the back of my house with the blue, cracked, peeling paint. But I do actually live near a body of water, Lake Elsinore. Less than a mile from me, I have an incredible view of the lake from the front of my house.  |

Pah, I used to get 8 for a penny on the way home from school. I remember when they went up to 4 for a penny. And you can still something similiar to a Jubbly - my kids have them in the summer. |
