Check out www.songmeanings.net

I think this site should have a similar thing as that site.  It would give access to lyrics, and create an ease of discussing songs without having to revert to forums (a.k.a. redundancy).

Also, please don't vote until you've looked at the site I mentioned.

Absolutely! If it's feasable, I don't see a reason why not. I love other people's insight on lyrics

"After all, it's music what we're talking about here, so there's no best or worst; just what you like and what you don't"

I myself have always had a problem putting my feelings into words.  I have no problem expressing them in music, so I would love to be able to discuss with others here what they believe a lyricist is trying to convey.

I've seen it and I think that's not bad idea.

Its certainly an interesting idea but you already have the possibility to discuss lyrics any time you want on this forum
Not sure about displaying the lyrics though - there would be a problem of copyright infringement.

I understand that we can talk about lyrics any time in the forum, but if we did lyric submissions, we could have a set place for each artist, without the redundancy forum posts create.  And of course, these wouldn't go away over time.  I love songmeanings.net, but no prog bands I like other than Pink Floyd get enough posts to have a discussion (and even Pink Floyd is a stretch sometimes).  For example, no song by ELP has more than 10 comments last time I checked, these spread out over 5+ years.

If it's not possible, that's OK, I just really want to have the kind of discussion about prog music that you can only have on Songmeanings.net if you like Panic! At the Disco or My Chemical Romance (or Tool, but seeing as how I don't like them...)

Having lyrics on the site is on just as shakey ground as having downloadable mp3s (which the site did have bck in '05. Lyrics are copyrighted by the artist, and while it may vary in degrees between countries, it's basically the same as posting guitar tablature on a website, and several tab sites I go(went) to are now being sued for copyright infringement.

But I see no problem with discussing lyrics in a lyric sub-board on the forum if that's what you're talking about, as long as it's simply talking about the lyrics and not posting every lyric word for word.

Yeah, that could work, but I was really hoping for something where you could search artists, and get a list of all their songs, and see a specific "forum" just for that song.  If that's not feasible, your way is fine.

songmeanings.net is pretty good, although there are too many entries that just say "I really love this song, don't know what it means though".

Personally I love a good discussion about unfathomable lyrics, although as Tony says, we have to be aware of copyright issues.

Would it be possible to work something out where lyrics are not posted, just the song name?
