I don't remember much of "the dangerous brothers", other than they were on 'Saturday Live' (back in the good old days when Ben Elton was funny & prior to disappearing up his own *rse), but as far as "Bottom" is concerned...

I honestly think Mayall & Edmondson are criminally under-rated. Beneath all the swearing & violence (of which, I have to admit, there's quite a bit) there's a double act of impeccable timing & an old fashioned love of slapstick humour... and nob jokes, fart gags & toilet humour ; but it's all done in a knowing way, in that they know they're being crass (various nods & asides to camera go on all the time), but they also know that this kind of humour will always be funny (well - to me, at least...).

^ Mr. Garten expertly describes what makes "Bottom" funny to me as well.Clap

I simply cannot get enough of their humour.LOLThumbs Up

I believe "Bad News" and "More Bad News" was part of a sketch comedy show called "The Comic Strip". Bad News is a parody documentary about a struggling heavy metal band called appropriatley enough "Bad News". "More Bad News" Documents the band trying to get back together to make a record for Frilly Pink records. After putting the finishing touches on their epic "Warriors Of Gengis Khan" and drinking many cases of lager, they find out that they get a chance to play at Castle Donington. I don't want to say much more in case anyone has not seen this yet, but any fan of Heavy Metal as well as british humour will really enjoy it.

For the filming, they did actually play live at the Donnington Festival, too... not the greatest moment in British music history

Meanwhile, back on the subject of 'grey'ness... I found out yesterday I need to wear glasses for reading; no great surprise, as at my last check up, the optician warned me I was developing slight long-sightedness, so I was prepared for this...

...what I was not prepared for was the young optician who examined my eyes this time saying "at your age, you must expect this"

AT MY AGE?!?

(I think this tread needs a bump. We've been napping. )

I've been getting the "at your age," and "a man of your age" comments as well. Thankfully, they are usually in reference to being in good shape.

Usually I get the same kind of comments along the lines of "you're never over 40, are you?" (especially when clubbing, an activity I first discovered just after my 40th birthday), but this comment from the optician....

Mind you, I have to say that just occasionally, there's a weird middle aged bloke in the mirror first thing in the morning... dunno where he came from.

Yup, the "at your age" comments are most certainly unwelcome.......I am beginning to get grumpy in the morning, a time when i used to be such a sunny person, I am thinking this is a sign of aging......... it just makes me grumpier though!!!

I do, of course, fully intend to be an extremely cantankerous, grumpy and unpleasant old person, wearing my heaviest of coats on the hottest of days, smelling of wee and pushing in at supermarket queues.

He, he - can't wait

I actually went out to my garage the other day to get something, but by the time I got there I'd forgotten what I went there for.
And I took my son to school yesterday and left his lunch box at home.

Senility is setting in early.

Here's something to show changing attitudes. Remember when hard rock was considered to be part of the fringe? I was just watching a baseball playoff game, and they played a Black Sabbath riff to lead out to a commercial.
