I wonder when that will be? The last real Tull studio album was in 1999. I think Ian Anderson is more interested in doing solo works or works with other artists now.

As with any animal the point if life is breeding and continuing the species. Forget all the philosophies about being happy, doing something that scares you everyday, experiencing this that and the other...

Just shag as much as possible. If your not going to breed, there is no point in you being here...

Whats the actual point of the species being here? Beats the sh!t out me.

Only humans worry about the point in things. Moss clings onto rocks for dear life and never once wonders what the point of it all is. What's the point in not being here?

Jared, me old mate, it goes something like this..

Because of the brain nature has blessed us with, we 'assume' there is more to just 'being' here than meets the eye. We assume also, that because we are capable of so much; engineering, electronics, IT, war bombs, death etc, that somehow our role in this world is more important than that of, say the otter, or the chimp. Incorrect, our contribution is only important to us, as a species and is probably something of an inconvenience to many other species on the planet. I'm sure in otter land there are levels of communication between the animals on the most important issues within their sphere of being; mating, feeding, defending themselves and their young etc.

However simple or complex our world, or that of any other species may appear to us, it all comes down to one thing: Shagging.

I had to look up nihilism just to make sure of the meaning. In many ways it is true of my views but not exactly - I am more of a humanist really - a buddhist existentialist to be exact!

if you claim that all
that entails is breathing, eating, defecating,
screwing, drinking,
spewing, sleeping, sinking ever down and down
and ultimately passing away time
which no longer has any meaning.

Exactly. Take away the threat of death....

..and our existence becomes truly pointless, even if we could shag forever - because we would choose not to. Infact we would become bored with it and would cease to breed. We have a limited window of time in which to breed. Nature has organised it that way, allowing the female only a finite supply of eggs, but the male an endless amount of sperm. That way the female is selective about how she uses those eggs, but the male has enough sperm to splash around and impregnate as many females as possible.

Child birth requires strength and good health in a female to survive the ordeal. Thats why the eggs run out once a female has passed her optimum birthing age. Generalisation, but you get the drift..

Take my word for it. It's all about shagging!

or not, in our case...Wink

I'm currently studying the philosophies of the Marquis De Sade as part of an Open University course, and your belief system is alarmingly similar to his... at the end of his life, his chief regret was failing to take all the opportunities for a good bonk, which had been presented to him as a younger man...LOL
