How could anyone say no to Genesis, Yes and Camel??  (Though it's real tough for me to ignore Crimson and Rush)  My vote goes for symphonic in the end.  Stick with teh originals.

According to the subcategorisation as it is today in this site, Art Rock happens to be my favourite subgenre. But it mostly due to the groups rather than a definition of a subgenre. The quality of a band is much more important for me than a belonging to any subgenre.
 
I also like Prog Folk and (recently) Canterbury. But, then again, it's particular bands, not a direction. I have some albums from the groups from some other subgenres (Symphonic, Jazz/Fusion, Space/Psycho and even one of Indo). I don't know much about the majority of the listed subgenres.
 
By the way, Jethro Tull is the pure example of an Art Rock group, in my opinion.

My faviorite are:

1.Symphonic Prog
2.Art Rock
3.Space Rock
4.Proto-Prog

But in fact I really don't know what are these genres: Art Pop, Math Rock, New Artrock & Retro Prog ! I've never heard 'bout anything like them !

I've never heard of half the choices...
I like the music I like, whatever genre but Symphonic Prog tends to be what I listen to most.

Like others, I don't know that I have a favourite genre (least favourite genres, yes).  There are albums I love from many of thew Prog subgenre categories listed at this site.

Some of my favourite bands listed under Art Rock, Rio/ Avant Prog, Jazz-Rock Fusion, Prog Folk, Canterbury, Zeuhl, Post Rock Experimental, Psychadelic/ Space Rock, Krautrock, and Progressive Electronic.  There are many albums I like from Prog Related too (especially the Alan Parsons Project Tales and I Robot, and various Kate Bush stuff) .

I am most likely to enjoy a band on first listen if it falls under Symphonic Prog (be it Italian or otherwise) so I could choose that except I love a great many albums (and bands) from the aforementioned categories too much to want to place Symph as my favourite.  Symph is, on the whole, the least challenging for my ears -- which ain't a bad thing since there is much superb music in that category.

Gentle Giant, Focus, Gryphon, PFM, Magma, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Samla Mannas Mama, Hatfield and the North, Pink Floyd, Amon Duul II, and Vangelis are all classic  artists I love from various categories.  Stuck with classics as representatives, but I also love non-70's bands music such as Kotebel and Anglagard, Miriodor, and I'm just now getting into God Speed You Black Emperor.

I voted for Symphonic, with Neo a close second. Most of the Neo bands cite the old Symphonic masters (mainly Genesis) as their primary influence in any case. I also like Jazz-Rock fusion (particularly Pat Metheny), but unlike the other 2 genres (which I can listen to any time of any day), this is best suited for afternoon listening only!

Art Pop

Pop music with an artsitically and progressive demand. Art Pop-artists are for example PETER GABRIEL or BJÖRK (this genre belongs somehow to "Prog Related", doesn't it?).

Math Rock

A special Progressive Metal-style. Math Rock-bands attach importance to exactly mathematically planned odd time signatures, complex rhythms and dissonant sounds. For example SPASTIC INK is a Math Rock-band.

New Artrock

The term New Artrock was used in 2005 by the magazine Eclipsed for the first time. New Artrock has influences from Post Rock, Alternative Rock (Indie Rock) and electronic music. THE AMBER LIGHT, RIVERSIDE, OVERHEAD and some PORCUPINE TREE-stuff count as New Artrock.

Retro Prog

Progressive Rock-bands from the 90's and nowadays which are geared to the Progressive Rock-bands from the classical 70's period. These bands grab the stylistic devices of the bands of that time and interpret them in a new way. Retro Prog-bands are for example: ANGLAGARD, THE FLOWER KINGS, SPOCK'S BEARD, IZZ, ECHOLYN or WOBBLER.

Well, I like Space Rock for Pink Floyd (so I picked that), but I also like Prog Folk for Jethro Tull, and Symphonic for ELP, and, to a much lesser extent, Prog Related for Zappa and the Alan Parsons Project. Prog Metal is the only other one I know well enough to have an opinion on, which that it is bad.
