Quite a nice little plug-in for Winamp (and Windows Media Player). When you play a track it goes off to the Metrolyrics site and looks for the lyrics to the track you're playing. You then get a little pop up to click on to see the lyrics (if it can find them).

I know winamp takes awfully lot of CPU... is this going to make it even slower, it surely goes to internet and back all the time. And how fast is it?

Never noticed it does... when I play MP3s CPU usage is 0-2 percent.... And the plug-in doesn't add anything to that as far as I can tell... |

I've not noticed any problem on my PC, and you don't have to view the lyrics if you don't want to.

Yeah, it's mainly compared to other programs like WMP or quintessential, the difference is huge. especially with the newer version of winamp. Though if you use the classic skin it drops quite a lot... Oh and Chopper, yeah, I don't have to, but why would I get the Plug-in then if I didn't want to see the lyrics Edited by Passionist - October 19 2006 at 07:00 |

On my PC Winamp consumes less than 1% CPU ... what are you talking about? If it consumes noticeable amounts of CPU, then something isn't working correctly - try disabling plugins. |

Yep, good point. What I meant was you don't have to look up the lyrics of every song you play. You can just ignore the little pop up then it shouldn't impact the PC at all. Of course if you do look a lyric up, your browser will have to start up if it's not already running and that will take some CPU but Winamp on its own shouldn't.
