As the Sabbath singer - Ozzy, as a vocalist in general - Gillan.

I think ronnie James Dio is a great singer, one of best singers of all time, but black sabbath`s most superb songs are from ozzy era, so ozzy.

OZZY of course!

If Dio wins this poll, I might have to cut someone.

Ozzy best fitted in Black Sabbath. But the best out of those is Ian Gillan.

Osbourne. The original, and the best. Sabbath wasn't the same without him.

I think they are all good vovalists.

Osbournes best vocals were with Sabbath. I don't like the nasal style he used on "Never Say Die". Once they recorded "Heaven and Hell" they were a totally different band. The album with Gillan had some good stuff and some boring stuff. I think Martin did some nice work with them as well.

Dio is a great vocalist

but for
Black Sabbath

ozzy
he covered most of the stuff
and his voice is signature for 'Black Sabbath'

Ronnie James Dio by a country mile. "Heaven and Hell" is one of my favourite records of all time - an unadulterated masterpiece. Ozzy's voice may be 'signature BS', but quality-wise there is simply no comparison.

OZZY will always be my top Sabs frontman, it was his own fault he got sacked from the band, a fact he will admit himself.  To keep going they needed a new vocalist and Ronnie fitted the bill perfectly, though many Sabs purists i knew were disgusted. Personally i thought "Heaven and Hell" was a brilliant album which i still have, but apart from "Seventh Star" they never really bettered that album. i thought "Born Again" was a good one-off album, an interesting excursion for Ian Gillan, though i think it furthered Ian's career more than Black Sabbath's!Smile

If it's true, that's amazing... for whoever gets to see them, that is.

I was lucky enough to see DIO the band less than a month ago. Greatest rock performance in my life!

Ozzy suited Sabbath's music best IMHO. Gillan is a much better singer though.

Ozzy for me, although Dio's material was very strong, and Tony Martin has been unjustly maligned, and Gillan was great with DP... have I just about covered it??Clap
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
