    Hi chaps,
dunno if this is in the right place........... but I was hoping that someone was informed enough to help me with a tech problem of sizable magnitude with the mac?

I have just had OS X installed, and managed to connect to the net (eventually ) and now I am attempting to transfer my e-mail accounts over from the old OS9.2 . I have entered in all the POP and SMTP details etc etc, but it is asking for my e-mail account password............. these accounts were set up YEARS ago, they are business accounts, (so I can't change 'em) but I have NO IDEA what the password could be (tried all the usual suspects!) I have been working on this darn thing for about 7 hours so far (today) and am going nuts........ is there a way to overide this? (please say yes, please say yes, please say yes)
If so, any chance one of you lovely folk could explain it in VERY SIMPLE english?

Cheers........

Going slightly mad here!

It has nothing to do with OSX. It has to do with the accounts that provide the mail service. If you can still access your OS9, go to keychain access. They may be there. Otherwise, go to the sites that carry you accounts, and go through the forgot password process.

bhikkhu is right p-c. Contact your isp who should have a process for people who have forgotten their passwords. Best to make a note of them for the future as well!!

Thanks for your replies guys....... I am calling this a day for today...Grrrrr! I spoke to the beloved (but not so puter literate!) and he is going to phone our indy ISP tomorrow............he has no recollection of the password at all (all done before my days in the office you see! )

Sat infront of this darn thing since 9am and feeling rather fed up with it all now....at least I can connect to the net, and I can SEND e-mails......I just can not recieve them!
(It looks like a peaceful monday morning!!!)

Off now to get what is left of the day light before I go mad!
