Bilek, "ol' " stands for "old" indeed, and it is often used for emphasis, not in its standard meaning (i.e. the opposite of "new" or "young").

You are also native speaker, and live in Italy?!?!?
man, you people are globetrotting around the world, and I haven't seen a pit of place except Moldova (that's where my wife's from!)
anyway, as I told to yukorin, I'm not interested to see anywhere other than Europe either! (maybe plus Jerusalem, after the war is over; if ever!!!)

I don't exactly have much Columbus pride, but Quarkspace is pretty good.
^ Yeah, I know Columbus is not a country, but I never leave central Ohio, so...

I'm not a native speaker, but I have near-native competence (I have two English-related degrees). I lived in Finland for almost six years, otherwise I've always lived in Italy. Back IT, in the Prog Polls section there is an ongoing debate on whether the Italian prog movement of the Seventies should have its own subgenre. I opened the poll myself, not out of patriotic pride, but rather on the basis of the huge popularity of such bands and artists with people from completely different backgrounds. It does seem that Italian prog has some sort of appeal on listeners from all over the world... which in a way is flattering, seen as Italy has always boasted of a rich musical heritage.

I'm not going to get into the debate in the said thread, but I agree with you. I only heard a couple of bands from italy, and in their heyday (1972-1977) the style is really "something else"... I also mentioned this somewhere else... anyway, the thing is, though Genesis influence is obvious, they really had created their peculiar style. That's why PA devoted an entire genre to it in the first place. What could be expected from sons of Vivaldi and Paganini ?
