I used to store mine alphabetically, until I found out excavating Hawkwind cds on a bookshelf to get to Motorhead cds behind it was incredibly tiresome. So now they are arranged in two groups-the ones on the bookshelf are the "pry these out of my cold dead fingers" collection and the ones in the entertainment center are the "normal" collection.

Truly nice, Joren. Clap a term such as "literate" should be used in music and you should get an attribute by it. Thumbs Up

My mother is going to buy me two CD racks soon as a late birthday present, so most of, if not all my collection, should fit into them!  I'll then take photos.

Picture this: a CD rack that holds about 200-225 CDs that is full that used to be in alphabetical and chronological order ( I got a bit lazy...)+several stacks of CDs (totalling about 100 or so)+two containers full of records in no specific order (maybe 125-150, I'm not sure...)

That sounds like my collection, Zac, only mine contains less!

I did once have some kind of Alphabetical thing going on, but it got replaced by a Genre-specific and relational scheme, which was also alphabetical and then I took CDs out, didn't put them back... bought more... it's become a mess!

I have a stack of 50 Cds right next to me as I speak.  Not in a rack, but just stacked up, they're wobbling and I fear they more fall...

My computer desk is worse than that!

I'll try and take some photos of it soon, before I get my CD racks.

Well, if everything goes as planned, I will be allowed to call myself 'musicologist' two years from now. Thumbs Up

I have the worst camera 'phone known to man, so apologies for these, they're the best I can do!

The Lounge

1. The tidiest part of my CD collection and ironically the least played of my CDs

2. Further round from that tidy bit, we find VdGG and other stuff just on the floor; not my desired way of storage, grrr!

3. A few odd CDs on the top of the television and speakers.  The ones nearest on the television are my three Ayreon albums.

By the Computer

1. This is the CDs I seem to play the most and it's a complete and utter cluttered mess!  Notice the pile of 50 CDs stacked high and some on top of the PC tower.  On top of the monitor is a CD waller with some copied CD-Rs in, that a friend sent me.

2. A closer view of the pile of 50 CDs, however, it's blurred!

Well that's it.

LOL Clap Psychedelic pics! (not just the screensaver - or what else it is)

What I find to be the biggest problem of a pile of CD's on your desk, is that you can easily knock them over and damage the jewel cases - which I did twice last week. Cry Angry Ouch

I know, I've been lucky so far, I've not managed to knock that big pile down and I don't plan to!

But once I have my new CD racks, I hope it's problem solved.

By the way, there are further CDs behind the speaker/television that I didn't photograph!

I don't know why my camera is bad, it's taken good photos before and I turned the lights on in the lounge and hallway... oh well.

That screensaver I've had for years, it came with a Jimi Hendrix Theme, but I soon discarded that and just kept the screensaver, I've used it for about 5 or more years on various computers, it's very psychedelic indeed!

Coolies!

I noticed a few pages a go that you have a nice VDGG collection as well. It looks like you have all the remasters. Tongue Unfortunately I bought most of my VDGG CD's just before they started remastering them. So now I only have the remasters of World Record and Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Dome, and I don't feel like re-buying the other ones.

BTW, you said 'rack'. Huhuhuh. Wink

I will have a couple of nice racks soon, don't you worry, Joren!

Yes, I only had The least, H to He and Still Life as non-remastered, so I thought it was worth getting them all.  I still have the non-remaster of Still Life too (the other two I gave to my brother and now I wish I hadn't, haha).

I will be posting a bit later, a closer-up view of my CDs by my computer.  I've actually worked out that with the light on the camera and the lights off, the photos actually are better and you can just about see album titles on the spines, so I'll post them up in a bit.
