Well hello there everyone. Must say I'm pretty (positively) surprised to find such a large community of prog fans, even over the internet. Outside from myself, my brother and a few rare people who exclusively like Dream Theater, I know no single person who appreciates prog, so I'm of course happy to find such a place : finally, I'll be able to talk of music I like with more than one single person!

I'm from Canada, more precisely Quebec : yes, I am a frenchie and English is only my second language - hopefully it's not obvious. I'm currently 16, but that's bound to change. Har har!

I like many bands, but usually stick to a few songs from each. Alan Parson's Project, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Harmonium, King Crimson, Maneige, Beggars' Opera, Yes, Genesis and Camel, among others, are bands I listen to regularly.

There are only three bands I listen to ten or more songs from, namely Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull and Van Der Graaf Generator - VdGG being by far my favorite. Their song "Killer" is in fact the one that really got me hooked on prog : since the first time I listened to it, I find it absolutely unbelievable.

Some of my favorite songs are VdGG's Killer, La Rossa, The Sleepwalkers and Lemmings, Gentle Giant's Prologue, Working All Day, Schooldays, Free Hand, Wreck and Playing The Game, Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick, Cold Wind to Valhalla and Warchild, Yes' Starship Trooper and Heart of the Sunrise, Alan Parson's The Raven, Mahavishnu Orchestra's Thousand Island Park, Beggars' Opera's Time Machine and King Crimson's In The Court of the Crimson King and Another Red Nightmare.

Being born in the wrong era and not being a fan of Dream Theater, I didn't have much chances to see prog shows. Still, I did see Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman when they dropped by Quebec City's summer festival last summer, and must say the hour-long Journey to the Center of the Earth show was memorable. And while I often listen to Heart of the Sunrise, I've been impressed by Anderson's performance at the festival - sure he wasn't with the rest of Yes, but the way he rendered the lyrics was even more memorable than his usual prestations.

Well... that sums it all! Happy to be here!

Remerciements + Counter-hug! Hug

VdGG should have been Québécois. That'd have been quite the deadly combination, hehe!

Welcome. You have a solid foundation for a person of your age. I'm sure you will enjoy it here. It was also a surprise for me to find a large prog community. We are a sparse bunch, so the net works well.

Have fun!

Welcome!

You love VdGG and that means you're a friend of mine.

However, if they were Québécois, they'd be terrible. WinkLOL
