I've recently been WOWed by these three albums:

Canvas Solaris - "Penumbra Diffuse"
Zero Hour - "The Towers Of Avarice"
Spastic Ink - "Ink Complete" (okay, so they make terrible titles, but at least they sound great)

So in this thread, im both:

1) recommending these artsits and albums to all lovers of prog-metal, especially those with a post-rock background
2) Asking for suggestions and recommendations for more artists that sound like these guys

Cool, Zero hour and Canvas are awesome bands, I would definitely recommend the other albums they have released. As for similar groups, the bands Andromeda and Spiral Architect are very technically driven and are probably a perfect match for what you are looking for. This next one is a little out there, but the album Focus by a band named Cynic might be something you'd like as well.

For Andromeda, II = I is a good starter album and Spiral Architect, I believe, only has one album out called A Septics Universe.

Spastic Ink is awesome. Recommend them highly, the other two aren't as good.

mmmmm Andromeda -  Extension of the Wish.

Don't get their second album though, it's not nearly as good.
