The already mentioned Czeslaw Niemen is Prog since he's listed in this site (Prog or not, he's great singer Thumbs Up).

The already mentioned Jim Morrison and Maddy Prior -- I (personally) consider The Doors and Steeleye Span Prog.

I like the voice of George Brassens, and that of Salvatore Adamo, and that of Demis Roussos too (outside The Aphrodite's Child).

Now, I don't know how many of you are acquainted with the following names: Kaigal-ool Khovalyg, Sayan Bapa, Anatoly Kuular, Alexey Sariglar, Mergen Mongush, Andrey Mongush..? They are Tuvan (throat-)singers (the group Huun-Huur-Tu Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up). Incredible singers, Kaigal-ool Khovalyg especially.

I love female vocalists like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, or Fiona Apple.  I wish there were more female singers in prog bands.

Some more:  Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, David Draiman of Disturbed.  I could go on and on - there's a ton of great vocalists outside of prog.

Well, all singers I wanted to post had been already mentioned. Almost. One's missing - Michael Kiske (ex Helloween).

Yes...
But everytime I'm hearing him singing on my discs (or even just remembering his voice), he IS for me...

Have you heard the song Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog? That song has both Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell on it.
