It's not that they love it, it's that it is really not that great when compared to their other works. Anyways, I think if you listen to it enough you will see that it lacks the depth that an album like Still Life has.
back from the dead, i will begin posting reviews again and musing through the forums

The problem I have with Ghost Reveries is that it sounds more like a side project featuring Mikael Akerfeldt than an Opeth album.  The production and timbre of the album is different from any other Opeth album.  The same could be said about Deliverence and Damnation, but those albums still have traces of the timbre of other Opeth albums like Still Life and Blackwater Park.

Opeth is a band that consistently changes things up a little bit, the problem is that they have a difficult time pleasing every small section of their fanbase.

I've listened to both extensively, and I completely disagree.

Damnation- 4.5

wouldn't mind hearing more in that albums vein... I really liked it..

Listening to it now... I found it cheap in a record shop this morning, and bought it without any hesitation. So far, I've got to say I'm truly impressed...Thumbs Up

Of course, being my very first Opeth album, I can't vote in this poll yet. Hope to be able to write a review soon, though!

Morningrise-? (ditto)
My Arms Your Hearse-4/5
Still Life-5/5
Blackwater Park-5/5
Deliverance-4.5/5

Count me in the Ghost Reveries is overrated, Deliverance is underrated club.
