Gordian Knot- Emergent

This CD is enjoyable from start to finish. The fact that Bill Bruford and Steve Hackett have guest spots makes this all the more interesting.

Piazolla - Tango Zero Hour

The best tango music I've ever heard. Songs range from 3 minute simple songs to epic 10 minutes ones. Piazolla is an insane bandoneon player and his band/symphony is full of virtuosos.

This is music for art rather than entertainment, yet it entertains you anyways. An instrumental Tango album with elements of jazz, classical music and maybe prog. Widely regarded as an impressive masterpiece by many. I am not a fan of tango at all, but this album is amazing, especially its "Concierto Para Quinteto" epic.

I recently acquired following Italian one-album-bands:

Apoteosi

Edgar Allan Poe

Maxophone

Cervello

Buon Vecchio Charlie

plus Celeste – 1st album

I listened to them all over the weekend non-stop and could not get enough. It may sound unbelievable, but all these albums/bands are Masterpieces in the true meaning of this word. I am not new to the Italian Symphonic scene, but it (seemingly) will never cease to amaze me.

Extremely highly recommended to all listeners of Progressive music!

Morgan's Nova Solis release from 1972.  Excellent British symphonic prog which is most unfortunately very overlooked.  I can't believe there isn't one review for this masterpiece.  I can't get enough of this release.  I've been listening to it almost everyday since I got it last month and am still not tired of it.  Excellent keyboards and the bass player, fretless, is unbelievable.  Great songwriting and vocals.  The drummer is excellent also.  What more can you ask for?  The vocalist also plays some excellent 12 string guitar.  Maybe I'll have to break down and make the first review of this release and hence my first review.  What a most pleasant surprise!! Smile

Apocalyptica, the cello-rock band most known for their covers of Metallica songs. Those are, for those who listen to Metallica (like me) amusing and fascinating, but their real gems come in original compositions. The dissonance of modern classical composers and the fury of modern rock combine for a truly progressive experience. Try Inquisition Symphony for a look at their original stuff.
Many Bothans died to bring you this information.

I have tons of new rec's for you all, but I will go one by one at each post.

We have been discussing this band in the RIO Drop-In Center thread but I haven't seen this band being mentioned anywhere else and it's a shame. So in order to not let only the dwellers of that particular thread know of them I'll mention them here.
I will write down info about them that I grabbed from the different sites about them:

The band is Die Anarchistische Abendunterhaltung or for short - DAAU (I did not copy-paste it...LOL). It means - Anarchistic evening entertainment. The name is from
DAAU are a band from Antwerpen, Belgium where they formed in 1992. The band consists of Roel van Camp (accordeon), Han Stubbe (clarinet) and the brothers Simon (cello) and Buni Lenski (violin).
The group is composed of four young men, all from Antwerp and classically trained musicians. Their music is a (instrumental) mix of eastern European folk-music, pop, klezmer, classic and jazz with heaps of energy, especially on stage. They have been compared to a whole range of bands and have been characterized both as pop, jazz and classical.
