I have always loved The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway by Genesis, great concept, great lyrics (Gabriel goes Freud), great music (except some moments on side 4) but it remains a controversial project. Thanks to The Musical Box (Genesis tribute band) I could get an impression of the mindblowing live performance in those days !
Second best is Phaedra by Tangerine Dream, best electronic album of all times with those compelling Mellotrons, sequencers and synthesizer layers !

I voted for Red - King Crimson especially for the songs Fallen Angel and Another Red Nightmare which are all time favourites.

No contest here as my favourite album of all time is listed - The Lamb still reigns supreme for me!
Out of the others, Relayer would come second, one of my fave Yes albums, then either Camel or Queen.

Lamb Lies down, power and the glory, relayer. Wasn't TFTO released in 74?

Why does this site list it as 74? My CD booklet lists it as 1/9/74...

hahaha... we had 10 pages of that about Fragile months ago....
some thoughts of the subject... on of multiple references I've found..
a yesfan writing of seeing them in Edinburgh on 12/10/73
"I was 19 and it was my first yes concert. Rick had come onstage to
tune-up his kit and was accosted by some fans with what looked like a
bottle of vodka. Despite his reluctance partake in their lack of
sobriety, he eventually succumbed to their Scottish charm. Either that
or he was wary of receiving a Glasgow kiss.
Then the build-up,
'Firebird', and the group appearing from a white disc like entrance.
John all in white, Rick in his cape, Chris in his dress (looked like a
dress to me) and boots and Steve in his pyjamas (it was later than I
thought obviously). Alan must have been conservatively dress as I don't
really remember him coming onstage.
It was a great concert and
parts are still engraved in my mind. The audience reaction to TFTO
section was a bit muted, in my recollection, it was only recently
released and was a challenge if you had not listened to the LP
beforehand (luckily I had owned this for 2 days)."
there is a lot of legal crap in this.. jusk ask Ivan who went through a
years supply of red and blue font in that thread... whoever.. it was
released in 1973... the discrepancy.... who knows....

What a great year!! Even when I see on that list AMAZING albums (Genesis, Camel, Zappa, Nektar, Crimson, Rennaisance, etc) my vote goes to Robert Wyatt and his brilliant masterpiece Rock Bottom..

I am not a real fan of electronic prog, and I usually hate the Mellotron sound... but Phaedra by Tangerine Dream changes all that into something haunting and memorable. It gets my vote.

I'll vote for Apostrophe (') because it has no votes. Roxy and Elsewhere is better, however, IMO.
