I predict Vince will enter this thread, answer Dream Theater, then write an essay the length of a doctoral thesis giving minute and barely relevant reasons why Dream Theater could make Savatage explode with their minds.
I said Dream Theater BTW.

^Omg, poll necromancy.
Anyways, although DT is not really my cup of tea, I prefer them over
Savatage. DT are better musicians, better composers, better lyricists,
and most of all, they have a much better band name (which is the thing
I really love about them).

Dream Theater gets my vote here. I like Savatage too. I warmly recommend newcomers in the world of Savatage any album post-The Hall of the Mountain King. Great music!

here you go Stony!
Dream Theater vs Savatage eh? Dream Theater makes head exploding metal, some minds simply can't contain the awe they are experiencing when they listen to Dream Theater.
First the technical skills is just amazing, this is the leading cause of head explosion. While Petrucci cycles through thousands sometimes millions of modulations in his guitar solos along with the unison parts he shares with keyboard ace Jordan Rudess, the eyes start rolling at an incredible rate trying to catch up to these awe-inspiring phrases as the sounds are moving around the room. (that's right a listener can see Dream Theater's sound it's so good)
The next is the incredible rythmnic capabilities of Mike Portnoy and John Myung. While Myung lays down groovy yet skilled basslines using more than just the root note of the chord, mixing in numerous intervals to match the modulations of Petrucci and Rudess, the head starts bobbing in 6400/16 because of the amazing beat laid down by not only drummer, but musical massuist Mike Portnoy. (that's right, Dream Theater's music is so good the body can feel it)
Finally between the amazing production producing these crystal clear incredible tones and the breathtaking voice of James LaBrie (yes, James LaBrie's singing makes the listener feel like he's singing the song) and in fact, the listener is. From matching the incredibly high pitches (known as wails to those with lesser vocabulary) the head finally explodes.
I'm so used to this awe, my head is still attached, because someone needs to tell all of you how amazing Dream Theater (faints) is!

f**k-Off with your assinine polls.
It's like asking Mikael Åkerfeldt vs. Keith Partridge.
I'm so sick of the anti-DT polls.
