 Topic: Deep Purple in the 90s

Deep Purple is one of my favourite bands. Of course their "golden era" is 1968-1974" (I thought of Burn too), but they came back throughout the 80s and 90s and still make music nowadays. Now I'd just like to know which album from the 90s do you enjoy most.
My favourite is Purpendicular.

Purpendicular for me too - and welcome to the club of DP lovers, headed by myself and the mighty WaywardSon (he of the Ritchie avatar)!  "Slaves and Masters"...  with that awful Joe Lynn Turner... doesn't even deserve the name of a DP album!

There's one song that they keep playing on the radio which I like a lot "Sometimes I Feel Like Crying". Which album is that from and is the rest of the album any good?

I voted for "The Battle Rages On".
"Abandon" is the worst DP album ever, IMHO. The only listenable track here is "Don't Make Me Happy", but it looks like "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming - 2".

A complain.... purpendicular ¿ proto prog? pleeeeeeeease 
Proto-Prog definitionRock Bands in existence prior to 1969 that influenced the development of progressive rock. The late 60's was a predominately experimental period for music. These bands were moving in a stream that eventually led to prog. The influence could have come from new sophisticated forms of writing and playing music, recording techniques, new instruments and vocal harmonies to name a few. Some of these bands became progressive rock bands themselves others did not.

Just for accuracy's sake: "Purpendicular" is not proto-prog in itself, nor could it be - Proto-Prog refers to bands active before 1970, or anyway before the explosion of the Prog movement. However, until a classification by album is implemented, once a band is put in a subgenre, all their albums belong there too.

I see the Purple in concert in Pordenone ("Purpendicular" Tour, Steve Morse is a great axeman)...

Purpendicular by a mile
their most progressive release in more than two decades. (last proggy one was Stormbringer, with a touch of prog in Come Taste the Band)
interesting that they could bring forth an album like that after Blackmore's departure... Maybe Morse (whose work in Kansas I simply hate) brought fresh ideas, eh?!
btw, if live albums were included, my pick would be Olympia; great combination of Purpendicular hits and '70's classics, despite Gillan's "lyrics forgetfullness  . Morse shows his skills better here IMHO.
Slaves and Masters  , Battle Rages On is a half hearted reunion attempt, songs lack the usual flamboyance of Lord, sound to me "too mechanical"... I would still give 3 stars for just 4-5 of the songs, anyway (Anya alone carries the album. Wish it was included in Olympia). As for Abandon, it shows that even Morse's creative sparks were wearing out. Too many songs, too little shiny moments. Some are still great, though, despite their bluesines... Lord certainly deserved a better jubilee than this!

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)

I choose The Battle Rages On although I also like Slaves & Masters very much.
Perpendicular & Abandon - I can live without.
