Topic: Prog Albuns from Non-Prog Bands Posted: July 26 2006 at 12:04 |
I would like to suggest that PA create a new category with reviews of some albuns from Non-Prog Bands but these albuns could be Prog Albuns.
For example:
Technical Ecstasy or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath from Black Sabbath.
What you think guys?

Are you asking for our opinion about the creation of a new category or for examples of Prog albums from non-Prog arrtists?

Your opinion about creation of a new category with reviews of "Prog albuns" recorded by non-prog bands.

Personally, I am not against the creation of such a category.
It seems though that this point (more or less) has been discussed some times. The problem is what is the criterion to decide whether a particular album Prog or not.

Perhaps, I know Smashing Pumpkins and My Bloody Valentine would find their way there.

I think that works if 5 or more guys (each one, especialist in one sub genre or 5 especialists for especific sub genre of this review in particular) from PA vote against or not for each review.

Look, there's been a lot of talk about that, but none of us can't decide without the approval of the site owners, Max and Ron. Personally, I would be in favour of that (and I wouldn't be the only one) - there are lots of great, influential prog albums made by bands who could never get otherwise into PA.

I totally agree with you. This category help us to discover some great albuns from non-prog bands. I know this is more work to Max and Ron but it's would be cool.

so, then, we'll have Proto Prog bands, Prog Related bands and supposedly prog albums from non prog bands..
don't you think this is too much? i mean, we already have disagreements about which band is prog or not, let alone about single albums...
apart from that, fans will be even more distracted from prog than they already are by "other provoking submissions"...
