I work in a Supermarket.  The work isn't great and neither is the pay (I get $6.45 an hour) but it's better than being unemployed for sure. Big smile

Electrical Engineer.  I love it because I'm an unabashed math and science geek.  I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

I love my job, so I hate it when people can't spend the minimal extra

Dutch).

I am a server (waiter), and have been in the restaurant business for over 20 years. I've been a busser, dishwasher, host, bartender, and manager. Serving is my true calling, and I love it (also quite good at it). There have been attempts at other careers. Once upon a time, acting was the goal. This way, I still get to be on stage every night.

Shocked  thats lower than our minimum wage.  I make more than twice that and I feel ripped off by my company (and I'm leaving there for better opportunities) but you said it right, I used to make around that same amount, it sucks but it gets the bills paid and its better than not having a job

OK, seriously.

I'm a scientist in the field of molecular cell biology specializing in cancer research. I currently work in a lab in a hospital but in September I will start my PhD studies (in the same field) in the USA.

Where?
My wife was a lab assistant in cancer research centers in the Washington DC area for several years, specifically Georgetown University and the National Institutes for Health (NIH).

Boo yah!  EE's rule!

No really, I'm currently entering my senior year of engineering school, but I'm currently working for a wireless internet company, which is where I hope to work after I graduate as well.  Within the next couple of years, wireless internet will be available anywhere, the same way you get cell phone service. pretty freakin' cool.

I applied to 6 univesities but was admitted into only one.
It is SUNY at Stony Brook in Long Island.

I have heard many good things (and read excellent scientific articels) about the NIH cancer research programs. I will apply for the post-doc there.

You're thinking about a post-doc even before you start your PhD?
