I use Firefox (tabbed browsing), and most other applications are in the tray. So if it's crowded I have:

- 1xFirefox (with approx. 10 tabs)
- 1xIntellij Idea (Java IDE)
- 1xPutty (SSH console for Unix servers)

And in the tray:

- Winamp
- Last.fm
- Napster
- MSN Messenger
- Task Manager
- Pageant (for Putty)
- Creative X-Fi console
- Steam

10+

At the minute:
µTorrent,
foobar2000,
Opera,
3 Windows Explorer,
3 gaim,
OpenOffice.org with a spreadsheet looking at the sorry state of my finances(!), and
2 Skype

Granted, the only things I'm actually looking at are Opera and one of the gaim windows, but I don't have any real need of closing/minimising them! If I actually used the taskbar I'd probably close everything, but since alt+tab defaults to the last used window it's not really a problem!

btw: I think that imoeng is referring to task bar *items* ... the small representations of the windows which are open. Some might think he means the quicklaunch buttons ...

Like me, you mean. LOL

If he's referring to the window items on the Taskbar, then in my case it varies a lot, depending on what I am doing (work or pleasure). But right now it's only one. Smile

Hmmm, I have far too many and I shut some down...

Currently:

Fix-It (it's expired, but it still works)
Unplug or Eject Hardware (USB)
Volume
NVIDIA Settings
QuickTime
WinAMP
Virtual Daemon Manager (oops...)
AVG Free Edition
WinZIP Quick Pick (I might as well close this, I use RAR mainly)
Netgear WG111T (Broadband router...)
Adobe Photo Downloader
Windows Updates (yet to deal with these!)
Local Area Connection (my Internet connection indicator)

Firefox is open, but doesn't show at the bottom.

Yes, everything else is uncluttered. My Quick Launch has 4 items on and my desktop is completely empty (which begs the question why one of the Quick Launch items is "show desktop"! Time to replace that, I think...)

Window Media Player

and then usually 1-2 other random internet tabs for other things.

Sometimes I have multiple internet explorers open, but that is usually rare, and sometimes i have convos in AIM going...but again, usually rare, and usually only one or two.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

Usually one to three.  It's usually WMP, Progarchives, and a MSN chat about chattes.

Usually just one or two(PA and AIM)Embarrassed I much prefer listening to music on regular audio equipment, sometimes I have media player open if I'm listening to some download, but that's relatively rare.
