Well, regarding that,I don't think the mods can do much. No e-mail link, no ban possible. But there will be no such thing as a pandemonia from him. Whenever he wants to go crazy,we'll be here. |

The person doing this posting is probably the same one who launched an attack on Tony and his family many months ago.
If it is him (and due to my senility i've forgotten his name) he is a total sh*t and really deserves a good kicking.

Hi After posting this review and receiving criticism for it, I did come onto the forums to explain myself, and also to apologise for its inaccuracies. I am on the website and browse the forums every day, yet I have not ventured back into reviewing since. However, I do believe that although this review is admittedly harsh and overly simplistic, the fact that I have expressed an opinion on an album does not deserve to be cited in the ‘inappropriate reviews’ section along with complaints about reviews containing utter gibberish, insults and those written in non-English. Thanks |

Hi, getinvolved2006,
Thank you for visiting the forum (you're always welcome to participate here) and also for posting.
This section deals with reviews that do not match ProgArchives guidelines and these reviews are not necessarily gibberish or insults, some simply haven't enough listens to shape an opinion - as suggested by the mentioned guidelines.
Also forum members discuss here if some reviews are appropriate or not, but it's not a kind of judgement or stone-carved law.
However, I agree that we must separate the real inappropriate reviews from those that rose a mere discussion of concepts and ideas. In fact, we have been thinking in dividing this thread to get things clear.
Thank you again.

GI'06, Good to know you are an active member of the site. Just to clarify - you were not being criticized for your review (at least not by me). You'll note I was specifically asking for the feedback of others on whether they felt it was appropriate and met the site's guidelines. I added my personal observations explaining why I felt it might not be. As you can see from the few replies to my post, the general consensus seems to be that it was an appropriate review. Best regards, Clem |

Sorry, I don't see anything wrong or inappropriate with this review - except it is very different from my view of this album that I like a lot. But the review is a valid opinon.

I just noticed this review for the DVD/VHS version of PULSE (1995).
Note the two passages near the end I have highlighted: 1 - he is not reviewing the product, only its audio; 2 - he is advocating illegal downloading PINK FLOYD — P-U-L-S-EReview by Palmer
O.K., I'm reviewing this P-U-L-S-E version because i have the audio track of the
video
on a double cd set, but it is not the real P-U-L-S-E album.(It's the same concert of
this DVD. It's got the same songlist).
It's really cool. It starts with a "Shine On..." version which contains an edit of parts
1 to 9 , lasting 13 minutes. It sounds very much like the original (which was
recorded 20 years before!). As Waters wasn't in the band by this time, Gilmour does
the lead vocal. This shows that Waters isn't the only one who can sing it well. Then
you've got songs from the post-Waters-era. Although many guys say Pink Floyd was
nothing after Waters left, I still think they had some cool songs : "Learning to
Fly"(1987), "High Hopes"(1994-one of my favourite Floyd songs. The guitar solo in
the end is amazing!), "Take it Back", "Comming back to life"(1994), "Sorrow"(1987-
One of the greatest guitar works by Gilmour) and "Keep Talking"(1994). After all
these songs, there's "Another brick in the wall pt2" which starts with the helicopter
and the final "ah-ah-ah" part from "Happiest days of our lives", and then bursts into
rock with:" We don't need no education!...". "One of these days " sounds identical
to the original, and it's amazing( you can't find this song in the PULSE |

I'm afraid I do object to reviews with:
1. Bad spelling 2. Bad grammar 3. Factual inaccuracies 4. Indiscriminate use of capital letters for nouns 5. Use of substitute swear words PINK FLOYD — The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn Review by daniel.zafar
This is my favorite friken prog album ever, along with "In the Court of the Crimson King". All
the songs are really really happy and I like the happiness. It is great. hes jus so happy.
syd barret was a bit of a genius but the acid really drove his songwriting. |

Ouch! I do see your point, but can we really discriminate against those who do this? Some people are dyslexic and cannot spell very well and may have problems with grammar. Some people also cannot spell particular words (who aren't necessarily dyslexic).
I agree about the replacement of vulgar words however. I was guilty of a factual error in my own review (which I have since corrected), so I know it's easy to do so. What's everyone elses viewpoint on this? Edited by Geck0 - July 15 2006 at 16:03 |

The only question is to define the boundaries of "bad spelling" and "bad grammar" since many reviewers are non-English speakers (my case) - however, I have the facility to edit my reviews and do it whenever I find an error.
For the other items, I agree with Joolz.

I think if the review was cleaned up it would be perfectly acceptable. Omit the "fricken" parts and use spell check and then it's good to go.

PINK FLOYD — Wish You Were Here
Review by aksu
The greatest album in the world, right after Dream Theater's Scenes From A Memory.
This is truely a masterpiece of progressive music. It's excellent from start to finish,
including the legednary Shine On:s. Every single Pink Floyd - digger on this planet should
buy this record, since it is their greatest. Aus. |

I agree - if its nouns and start of sentences had caps, and 'fricken' was removed I would not have made any comment. Indeed, 5 points for one of my favourite albums has got to be a good thing, right? As for spelling, I can overlook the odd mistake, but there are such things as spell checkers |
