Topic: Best Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Posted: July 14 2006 at 22:14 |
Total Recall must be the only movie in wich that actor is kind of good for something. But my guess is that everything is in the script and the director.

It would be too easy to vote for T2 or Total Recall. [N.B. I'm shocked that no one has voted for either Running Man, and True Lies and Predator (!) got only one vote each.] Normally, I would have voted for Predator.
However, I voted for The Last Action Hero for one very basic reason: it is the most misunderstood, underrated action film (and AS film) ever, and Arnie actually does better acting in that film than in almost any other, especially when Slater steps into the "real" world. The film was so broadly maligned by the hyper-critical, anti-AS media that it missed the entire point of the film, which was essentially a brilliant deconstruction of the action film genre.
It saddens me that so many people don't "get" the film, and think of as somewhat "toy" or silly. It is anything but.
Peace.

The first Conan movies is OK, otherwise I haven't liked very much his movies.

Hercules In New York and Commando were hilarious. Terminator 2 is the only I would genuinely consider a good (not just entertaining) film here, so obviously I can't vote for that.
Commando gets my vote, purely for Schwarzenegger's skills at dodging bullets, he's even better than Chuck Norris!
I'm shocked; I have actually seen most of these films, and that quickly brings us to the question.... Why, oh why?!?

True Lies was an excellent spy spoof of sorts, and my favourite of his films. I'd argue he hasn't really done a good one since bar the third Terminator.
