He was a great artist. Too bad he suffered so much with his mental health. He will be missed.

BBC Look East broadcasted a tribute to Syd, thankfully they didn't dwell on his use of drugs, instead they paid tribute to his inventiveness as a musician Clap

When I started to listen to Pink Floyd I liked the Syd-era most. That has changed now, but I still remember how amazed and impressed I was by the psychedelic pop songs, mostly written by Syd. Sometimes simple but often with a twist you rarely heard.
Later on "Shine on" always seemed stronger when thinking about PF:s former member.
RIP, Syd.

Gone but never forgotten.

What a monumental epitaph to his memory we have in "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"

Certainly one of the more tragic figures in rock history, but as far as I'm concerned Syd died in 1970 after he did his last session. To quote John Lennon "Genius is form of madness".

Sad news indeed.  I've only just learnt of this.

I am also glad that his family kept it quiet for a few days, to give them time to grieve.

Requiscat in pace "Syd" Roger Keith Barrett.

Teaflax, do you always have to be somewhat insensitive?

I'm seriously going to wear all black tommorow.
"Won't you miss me? Wouldn't you miss me at all?" We do, Syd; we do. :-(

My book was closed;
I read no more,
Watching the fire dance
On the floor.

I have left my book,
I have left my room,
For I heard you singing
Through the gloom.

Unhappy

Goodbye you Crazy Diamond, I hope you find peace wherever you are. In honor of this true musician, let us remember all the good he has done in music.

Continue to shine my friend.

I can't say with words the pain I feel.
A large part of the being I'm now was developed under Barret's Floyd influence.

About the way the media treats his pass: n BBC news online it seems that the most important contribution of Syd for the popular cultura was... David Bowie. Not a single word about his work.
Bach, Ma, Bros, Déia, Dante.

So this is what happens when a god among men finally reaches his end.

I would say 'Rest in Peace' but it just doesn't fit the situation --- I think Syd finally found The Secret he sought after.

See you on the other side, Syd.
