Colin Hodgkinson is a nearly forgotten, albeit fantastic bass player from the UK. He is one of the most talented and versatile musicians I can think of and his thunderous Fender Precision is being utilized to it's absolute limits.
He played innovative jazz-rock with Back Door and with others, also great R&B. Does anyone have a detailed discography? Does anyone care?
These days the man plays at small English Pubs for dinner and a beer, surely he deserves more attention in ProgArchives, where many forced inclusions receive more interest?

I saw Colin H. in 1983, playing Donington with Whitesnake. His tenure with the band was unfortunately very short, and probably the kiss of death for his career. However, I remember that at the time there was a lot of talk about him and how great he was.
I think that a complete discography can be found somewhere on the web, with some time and patience. As to the inclusion of Back Door, I'm completely in favour and agree 100% with your remarks.

Not to be confused with Tim Hodgkinson of Henry Cow fame!!!
Back Door is one of thoser Progressive Blues (lack of better definition for bluesy jazz-rock) group that should be included in the Archives.
Musically , they sound a bit the sam as Patto did (they should also be included)
Did Hodgkinson not also played on the last Daryl Way's Wolf album.?

I have their self titled 1973 album ; currently I'm waiting for their '8th Street Nites' vinyl to come. Should be included, as many of their kind/genre, whatever the name of genre would be.....

C. Hodgkinson did play with Whitesnake indeed and I can only guess that it was not a very suitable vehicle for his talents, but the pay was better?
I have a live album "Steamin'" where he plays with Brian Auger and Pete York. A really pleasing, mainly jazzy performance.
Yes, there is a discography on the Net somewhere, I remember seeing it a while ago, I'd have to find it again. Meanwhile I am pleased to note that he is not completely forgotten, thanks for the responses.

I've got the self-titled album ... definitely a jazz-rock inclusion, IMO ... and Hodkinson is indeed a great talent.

A quick glance on the Net reveals a remarkable contribution to music by CH. An amazingly large discography indiucates his main preferences for R&B and jazz-rock.
His short tenure with Whitesnake seems to be his least relevant involvement.
There is a long association with Alexis Corner, Spencer Davis Group, Jan Hammer, Jon Lord, Pete York amongst others and of course his own vehicle, Back Door.
Highly recommended for attention.
