So, what's your budget for the whole? (including a minimum of accessories: quality power/interconnects (modulation cables + biwire HP cables), vib cancelling accessories).


Which ones of the 4 source(s) do you want to start with:

-CD (Do you want an integrated player or separated drive/converter setup?)

-Vynil turntable
-Tapedeck
-Tuner

Considering the amplifier issue, i think you'll probably want to start with a cheap solidstate integrated amp, and yes, no problem i can tell what to take.

But you must know that tube is another galaxy, far beyond solidstate in the mid highs, and that's what human hear is the most sensitive to. Nice highs is the first point on a system to be musical.

And so know that you can buy an american tube amp for 1000 dollars which is ridiculous, considering how good it is. It beats any solidstate amp in the highs, and it gives 100X more pleasure.

i just read a few reviews of the jolida 302 and it sounds greats, what do i get next, speakers, cables...

do i really need another cd player or turntable?

My advice is to go for second hand, with such a budget.

In last Stereophile magazine, in "Analog corner", reviewer Michael Fremer explains that if today people don't LISTEN TO music -instead of hearing music as a background in the car or in the public transport i.e-, it's because of the boring digital sound.
Indeed, in the golden times of analog, like in the 70's, people were listening to their system -vynils- religiously during hours.
You'll notice that people stopped with the arrival of the sad numeric technology. Because numeric sound is so cold and boring, people loose interest in listening music, cause they don't feel pleasure.

Now, you can have pleasure with digital, but you need a "minimum" of budget, and overall, knowledge.
Her's the sad truth.

No, they stopped with the arrival of video clips and tv sets in every room.

I'm still listening to music as deeply as I was 15 years ago on my vinyl player - and it clearly doesn't matter whether you're listening to mp3 on a cheap system or a big hi-fi system. Sure, some people can't stand mp3 and are convinced that it's not possible to enjoy it ... but some others have absolutely no problems with it!
