Funny thing is, Henry doesn't seem to do diving at Arsenal (although they have a good quota of divers...), yet once he pulls on a French shirt...WHOOPS...down he goes....

Atrocious dives by the Portuguese and Scolari did himself no favours either. That said, France weren't all that great and were horribly sloppy towards the end.

Big Phil berating the referee! He will be ashamed of his actions and hopefully his team when he sees the replays?
What the hell do those Portuguese players think they are doing? Diving, falling, rolling about as if poleaxed-these players are a disgrace to football and someone needs to take action quickly.Postiga-what was that in the penalty area-you are a disgrace! Ronaldo for all his skill is a cheat and a con man and the manager must be brought to book for his attempt to intimidate the referee.
Shame!
France struggled,it looks as if this Portugal team can make anyone play badly but ultimately they have no teeth.I cannot see France winning the final now.
Italy to be Champions.

Agree with everything you say here Tony... I'm glad Portugal are out, good riddance to bad rubish Well done France but Italy will win the final. Also agree with Gog/MaGog I'm glad Phil Scolari is NOT going to be the next England manager.

[QUOTE=erik neuteboom]But after the smart provoked penalty (it was a foul but I know some perfect coral reef 'diving' spots for Henry ...),
What do you mean by "smart provoked penalty" when you admit it was a foul ?

Well, Tony R, I feel sorry for you that England lost their game against Portugal in a very frustrating way, I agree that in that game Portugal was a disgrace for football but tonight Portugal was at least equal to France concerning football qualities. If you talk about disgraceful acts like diving French forward player Henry successfully competed with the Portuguese forward players ...
I hope Portugal will keep on playing like tonight against Germany on Saturday in order to show the world their huge football potential.
By the way, I read that Rooney has forgiven Ronaldo ... I'm so moved ..
About that 'smart provoked foul': it was a foul because the defender didn't touch the ball but it is the experience of the forward player Henry to 'walk against the legs', just as the Italian did against the Australian, you know what I mean (nudge, nudge)?

Erik, please I am not talking about England or the quarter final.
I would be ashamed if England played like Portugal but ultimately I am concerned for football in general. The cheats were not punished and I believe that Portugal should be made an example of.
I have already posted that I thought Henry dived even though he was fouled.
My post is not sour grapes, that is not my way.I just cannot bear to see cheats and not see them punished.

You are right Tony R but the FIFA is not interested to evaluate the fouls of the referees (caused by the bad behaviour of players like Ronaldo and Robben), the FIFA is only interested to maintain their power so we have to live with the fact that many bad referees are allowed to lead games on a World Cup because they support Sepp Blatler, this is a disgrace, this is the source of all current problems with the referees.

Just wait until we have 2 referees.Apart from the problem of agreeing decisions just imagine how much they will physically get in the way of play.
It will be like Pinball!
Imagine trying to score with two refs both running backwards out of the penalty area in order to turn a blind eye to one of Ronaldo "simulations"....

Yes, Zidane excuses to his friend Figo for the fact that Portugal had the better play of the game but France went to the final ...

Well Erik, i'm not a great connaiseur of the soccer game. If i compare though: Portugal was not only a disgrace in the game against England but also against our own country. This was a tense combat between 2 teams not about soccer but about being the more foul , unsportive, unscrupulous team.Morally I believe both teams should have gone out there and then to be replaced by Ivoorkust for example. I have enjoyed France though against Spain and Brazil (probably both much stronger than Holland and England anyway). Tonight both teams seemed to be of equal strength but looking back at the tournament there can be no doubt that France deserves to be through. (all IMO ).

Portugal may have had more of the ball, but they did bugger all with it.
Except cheat of course. I hope serious action is taken against these players. That was the worst game of football I have ever watched. The diving was RIDICULOUS. And the idiocy that people are suggesting the Henry penalty was a dive. Some people just don't have a f*cking clue!
All I have to say is thank f*ck Scolari isn't our next manager.

Course he dived, but he was also fouled.
I think that the expression I am looking for is: he made a meal of it....

The bottomline is: did we enjoy ourselves? I liked both semi-finals a lot, I have to say!
For me it was also a lesson in psychology. Yesterday I thought I wanted Germany to win, but in the end I found myself supporting the Italians. Tonight I started as a supporter of France, but after an hour I really wanted Figo, C. Ronaldo, Deco and even Maniche, (who made the knock-out goal against my country-of-birth Holland ) to level the score.
For the finals, I'd like to see the Italians win the cup. Why? I don't have a clue!
The psychology lesson I learned: the subconscious is a curious thing

Because you love Moogs and Mellotrons, Marcel, and these unsurpassed vintage keyboards are such an important part of the Italian prog that your psychological defense mecanisms (denial) don't allow other countries than Italy to win, so fellow proghead, there's the clue !
