4 stars Ignore all the lousy reviews and buy this to listen to EL&P do a masterful job handling the sound of the 90s. Thin Line, Street War, Man in the Long Black Coat - these are well- turned works by polished veterans! To compare this CD to "Love Beach" is sheer lunacy. Even the cover art is eye-catching and sophisticated!

How ironic. LOL

PINK FLOYD — Dark Side of the Moon
Review by Ciaran K.

5 stars 1. Breathe (In The Air) - A very well written song with exellent Gutair and tape effects.

2. On TheRun - A very intersting song with good tape effects.

3. Time - A song with a long introduction put wen it gets into the verses it is definitly worth the wait.

4. The Great Gig In The Sky - It has a very good keyboard introduction and a VERY good vocal solo.

5. Money - The song has a well writen bass line that is well regignised when it comes on any where and the words are very good.

6. Us And Them - it is an amazing song and it is probably the best on the album.

7. Any Colour You Like - A very good song even though it is an instrumental you can still know it is about colours.

8. Brian damage - A great song the first few bars was enough to sell it to me.

9. Eclispe - This is a great finishing song to the album and the the backing vocal solo is great.

The Dark Side Of The Moon is definitly one of the best albums ever made. You only get an album like this every 15 YEARS!!! If you like music this is the album for you.

------

maybe I'm overreacting, but I don't like the form of the review.Explaining succint the piece has been done, but much better. This is just "a great song + adjectives(superlatives) + very mild description of instruments/vocals)

and of course,in the context of an album reviewed by so many voices,it's zero crossed.

Where's it gone?! Here's the rough translation, but it was deleted so quickly I can't remember what the group and album were!

Translation from the Spanish original:

"What a magnificent work to listen to when tiredness overcomes you and you can't go on, and then you hear 'Happy As I Am'. It's happy music to lift the fallen spirit, made up of beautiful melodies that thread from song to song. The bricks from which the pieces are built bring the most varied memories from the landscape of symphonic and experimental rock. But we already know that the music that impresses us most does so because in some way we have heard it before, although distinctive, the perfume remains and travels in time from some melodies to others. Imaginative sounds and at the same time respectful to the classical progressive forms.

It's so difficult to find powerful melodies! It's so easy to crush with textures and layers and more layers of sound... without soul! I would like to know what literal story this conceptual work tells, but neither is it necessary, the music speaks without words. Without doubt it's a masterpiece, pleasant to hear time and again, without yet having noticed where the ocean floor is.

I'm sorry I don't know how to write in English."

EDIT: Googled for "Happy As I Am" and "progressive rock" and found the album: STRANGEFISH "Fortune Telling" (2006)

MUSE — Black Holes And Revelations
Review by madeno

5 stars Album molto innovativo.

BTW, the review is ok.

If he is a Brazilian I'm sure he could be a politician... In Brazil, we say that in the next elections we'll vote for the whores because we are tired of voting their sons and daughters.Tongue

Now seriously, s/he maybe doesn't know that we have Polish members here and probably tried to make a joke or play with us. I'd be more comfortable if his/her review wasn't good so I'd easily delete the entire stuff (review, registration, etc.). Evil Smile

I have my own opinion about it but I'll check it with the other guys. Smile

I wonder if somebody ever asks to remove all my reviews from the site because 'ivansfr0st' means 'ass' in Chinese. Ouch

By the way, honestly speaking, if the reviewer's name was 'son of a bitch' in English, would any measures be taken against him? Just out of curiosity.

Looks like abuse to me -

http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2368

Take a look at each album. Each album has at least two 1 star ratings, without a single exception. It all means that some two people deliberately gave each album 1 star, with an intention to lower all the averages. Even the rare material, which even I, a fan, could not find has been given 1 star. This was definitely done on purpose, clearly abusive.

I don't normally get involved in pursuing such ratings Ivan, as we have to assume that ratings are given honestly.

This case does however seem a little strange, in that both the e-mail addresses are Italian, and that the same 2 people have indeed rated every album by Death as 1. It does seem odd that these two people would have listened to every album by the band, given their obvious dislike for their music.

I have e-mailed the "reviewers" concerned for an explanation. Once I have that (or if there is no response), I will consider what further action to take. Please prompt me if I have not updated you on the position in say a week.

Cheers
