That's one poll Andrea C. will love to bits...Wink

A hard rock classic with lots of proggy elements from one of my all-time favourite bands (whom I hope to see soon in PA, as they highly deserve it!).... I'm sure many of you out there love it as well. BTW, my personal favourite is "7 Screamin' Dizbusters", though each and every track is a gem.Heart

SECRET TREATIES!!!!

But your Dizbuster choice will be mina also
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I hope to see this band on PA soon too. Hard to pick as its such a well rounded album but I'll go with "Wings Wetted Down", one of my favorite song titles.

I have to admit that Secret Treaties is the only BöC album I know well enough. I'll come back and vote later.

Can't believe it! BOC are resurrected from the grave!! (Wink)

I've tried to do so in the past months. Finally there are new strong supporters of them!!

Very well done Raffaella!Clap

Your question is very tough, though!

I've always liked the explosive The Red And The Black.

The whole first side of the album (BLACK) is impressive and outstanding hard (art) rock! O.D. is memorable!

The second side i less powerful but that's fine because is the RED section...

Mistress is the most favourite of mine from that side, especially for the fantastic intro.

And so, what the song I've chosen for this very interesting poll?

No question: 7 Screaming because is the most proggy...Thumbs Up

BTW, Tyranny and Mutation follows the kinda cover of the previous album. Both excellent covers, no doubt.

Tyranny & Mutation

The Red and The Black is the evolution of the song of their first album "I'm On the Lamb But I Ain't No Sheep" (great also bat mellower for the first half).

Blue Öyster Cult

These two covers are really great! That infinite-stardust-space effect is memorable!Clap

Their "strange" symbol on the top of the pyramid or at that long distance is disquieting...

I know I'm well over a year late, but I just found this place.  I'm not a pure prog-rock guy, b/c I get bored with it, but there is quite a bit that I do appreciate, especially some of the more metalish stuff.  Anyway, B.O.C. has been my favorite band since '81 (12) and Tyranny is my favorite B.O.C. album.  Although completely different than radio-friendly stuff, I love the sound.  The unfortunate part is that the keyboards are woefully underrecorded.  Lanier's keyboard work is beautiful, especially on Wings and Teen Archer, two haunting sounds.  So what do you do?  Interesting.  Play them out to a headphone amp, or a box with a line in (it may depend on the box), and then go out through a headphone out jack to an amp.  I was able to do this as a kid with my '80's boom box, and can do it now with my headphone amp.  You end up with, depending on the song but it works for both Wings and Teen, all the keys, some drums, bass, and backing vocals.  Thus, on Wings and Teen (and Transmaniacon MC from the 1st album) you mostly hear the piano/organ and it really comes out.  I can listen to it over and over.  Stunning really.  Lanier plays a lot of counterpoint too, so as you can barely hear the lead guitar in the background, you can really tell how Lanier is not just laying down the chords over Buck's leads.  Very tasty indeed.

As for the album, I love TR&TB because it kicks ass and has 3 cool guitar parts.  OD'd is ok; I like to sing along and the lyrics are cool.  Honestly, Hot Rails doesn't do much.  7 Screaming Diz-Busters is def. prog metal and has never gotten the respect or recognition it deserves.  Baby Ice Dog is fun, but then come the triumvirate as I like to think of them.  3 haunting, strange, beautiful songs, that to me define B.O.C. as unique.  Freeze on lovers.

Welcome! Clap It's always great to meet another BOC fan... BTW, as the band are now in Prog-Related (and I still bear the scars for adding themCry...), this poll should be probably moved to the PP/PR lounge.

Ah, and 7 Screaming Dizbusters RULES!!!!SmileThumbs%20Up

I'm surprised that Teen Archer isn't doing better. It stands as an example of what BOC could (if rarely) do that differentiated them from the rest of the hard rock acts.

Love the whole album, but the two which really always stood out for me were the two Joe Bouchard songs, Hot Rails and Wings.  I went with Wings.

BOC may not have the 20 minute epics often associated with prog but they they definitely have prog elements and should be included at least as prog related, though personally I prefer their earlier albums.  By the way, has anyone heard "Imaginos"? Very imaginative concept album on which "Astronomy" was originally recorded.

Wasn't Imaginos supposed to be a Bouchard solo album ??? I find it to be among their best. Lucky BOC ...
