Classic - Probably Super Nintendo, but I loved my 64 too! Now - Playstation 2 by far. The only system I plan on getting of the new generation is the PS3 (I sort of lost interest in video games since I got into music). I will be waiting for a price drop since I'm poor

You really can't compare sytems in different generations. In terms of performance, there's no doubt the 360 wins, but for overall games/nostalgia/everything else, I can't choose between the N64 and PS1. The 64 had more really fun games, but it's controller royally blew. The PS1 had both a lot of bad games, but an equal amount of good games. I just can't choose.

Playstation 2.
I have every game system I have ever owned since the Atari days, but everyone voting for the Nintendo,SNES and N64 must have forgot how frustrating cart games were to just try to get them to play. The 8 bit Nintendo was so bad that after awhile you had to wedge a matchbook or something in to get the cartridge to play properly.

For a company that was an innovator in the gaming industry they should be ashamed of themselves. They were the last company to use cartridge games, all their add ons and peripherals are BS to just milk the consumer for more money. The games available to the Nintendo gamer are a joke compared to other systems.
Their portables are even worse. The Gameboy was B&W while the Sega Game Gear was full color AND the screen on the GG was backlit. And even until recently if you wanted to play a game on their portable you had to go buy a light for it.
Can you tell I despise Nintendo?

I'll vote for Playstation 2 as the best system, it was the first to feature backwards compatability.
The best overall system based on game catalogue is without a doubt playstation. The Final Fantasy series is the single strongest reason for me to buy a system, and I, II, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and Tactics are all games issued by playstation as original releases or rereleases.
Wow what great games those were, Playstation also had some other great RPGs like Breath of Fire, Xenogears, Star Ocean, and of course Koudelka
Playstation 2 has had a strong RPG catalogue too, Final Fantasy X, Star Ocean III, Shadow Hearts I, II, and III, Grandia II and III, and some other game I can't remember at the moment were all excellent.

I share your disposition Jody. Nintendo has gained a reputation out of screwing consumers. The memory cards and rumble packs for Nintendo 64 was a joke. Why are memory cards (small ones at that) needed for cartridge games. They didn't think to put memory cards on Super Nintendo games now did they? (must be because they didn't think of it yet) The rumble pack was a joke too, I wasted money on that.
Sony on the other hand has done a great job. They practically started putting games on disc, started the dual analog controller, made higher capacity memory cards, put the damn rumble pack inside of the analog controller so gamers wouldn't waste money, and invented backwards compatability.
And when it comes to Nintendo's catalogue, the only reason to buy their system in my opinion is Mario and Zelda. They've made a killing off of those games, and maybe Star Fox and Donkey Kong as well, but the majority of their quality catalogue is multi platform now.

The Gamecube was half the price of the PS2 or Xbox. But I suppose it didn't matter since there were ony 10 necessary games at most for the Gamecube.

Super Nintendo, that system powns everybody during his period, The Best Games Ever, The Best Graphics Ever, The Best system Ever, that was the golden era for nintendo, but the second gold era is coming Nintendo Wii will beat all of the others consoles. The problem with nintendo is that everybody think that they are only for kids, maybe for the idea of a familly system, but there's very adult games for nintendo, some made by them, just check some new games listen to appear in Wii.
(and Game Cube is good IMO, but not has good to compite against the rest of the consoles)
I love all Mario (well, not a big fan of Mario Party), Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox games, excelent games and unique.
I hate the Play Station (only the console, not the games) because they broken only with an airflow or if it falls 5 inches over the floor.
And XBox only because I HATE MICROSOFT and is Monopoly, and Bill Gates.
Sega was one of the best systems too, and Atari.

Yeah, I see. They where always a pain and all to keep up with them, but I would've voted for them for emotional reasons and such since NES was my first video game system and I bought all of their gaming system up to the Gamecube. I'm pretty sure I won't be buying another nintendo console in the near future. PS3 here I come
