My Grandfather's keyboard just broke down basically, its in the shop but he wants me to find him a new one because he knows I play alot of modern stuff.
But im actually not sure...I want to get him the best for his money. All he needs is a piano with hammer action keys, heavy keys, with the same feel as a grand piano, but electric.
I was on M-Audios site and I saw their stage pianos and I thought maybe I should just get one of those, but is there somewhere else you guys could reccommend, like Korg or something, with reasonable prices for a good enough piano for an old guy who just sits and plays once in a while?

well, i dont want him to have to spend too much...his dealer guy is trying to rip him off charging him about 3,000 dollars for a piano...he shouldnt have to sepnd that much to play at his age! He just needs an 88 key electric replica of a grand, simple as that, sitting in his small home in the corner of the living room.

I can vouch for Yamaha products. I have a Yamaha P-60 stage piano, its about half the price as the one Jaydubz posted but it really is a nice piece of equipment. Yamaha's samples are some of the best, and even on a model like mine, it sounds fantastic.
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-P70-88Key-Digital-Piano?sku=707070 That model is practically the same one, just has a few more patches. It all depends on taste and how high you are willing to pay. The piano samples sound terrific and the action on the keys are an amazing replica. Plus, the keys are graded so you get the different feels the higher up you move on the keyboard. In the end, I really recommend Yamaha for the whole 'bang for your buck' think. |
