I've just come across this description of England's 4 strikers :

"....one rubbish striker, one injured, one unfit and one not allowed to stay up late..."

Wonder which is which? Big smile

Incidentally, I should at least admit that my prediction that England wouldn't score a single goal in the tournament is.....well, I suppose it is almost within the margin of error.........Big smile

I agree about Englands strike force but we have the Likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham and J Cole who can get goals from midfield so it's not all bad...Wink
I thought we were quite poor again, we still haven't got out of first gear but we are through with 7 pointsBig smile
I also think you are right about Hargreaves possibly our best player tonight??

I'm looing forward to the Netherlands v Argentina now, hope they don't just settle for a draw.

Joe Cole was great!  I've always rated him as a good player and I felt he should have been in the first team a lot earlier than he has been.

I think out midfield is solid, so there are no issues there.  Our strike force (force?) isn't too good now that Owen's been injured.  If we play 5 in midfield and 1 up front, I cannot see us being too productive on the goals front.

The choice is now... do we play Rooney up front or in a more attacking midfield role, or, do we play Crouch up front, or in an attacking midfield role?

The other option is to drop Crouch and stick up Rooney on his own and having 5 in midfield.

We could put Hargreaves in a defensive midfield role, with Cole and Beckham on the wings.  Gerrard and Lampard can then play in the middle of midfield.  I am also thinking maybe Cole could be put in a more attacking midfield role, but then we're stuck for a left sided player...

We should beat Ecuador, but we need to be very cautious.

Many question Hargreaves' role in the English lineup, but I think he's a good defensive midfielder, but he would not smart if I was Sven, because of the 4-4-2.

again England got exactly what they wanted, they won't have to play Germany yet! some of the play was rather panicky and muddled - surely they didn't let that last goal in deliberately to force a draw.....did they?.....would they??Confused

Well win or draw they would have finished top, only defeat would have paired them with Germany.

Tongue Yeah - it was pretty bizarre. Extremely unlucky! Seemed like a harmless situation but you never know what can happen in football. Confused
