Is anyone here inspire by bands like early Genesis, Yes, Moody Blues, King Crimson, ELP and such...do you write music and do you have any recordings?

I am very interested to hear what modern day musicians pull off being inspired by the great, let me know, thanks!

I'm inspired by some early prog rock. I tend to prefer a couple of years after the "vintage" period I suppose, around 1973 to 1980? The link on my sig should work.

most of my music that I write with my prog band is more of a fresh sound i guess, but in the style of older prog. We don't really try to sound like anything,  but don't try hard not to sound like anyone. we just write music.

We haven't been able to record anything yet (Each member of the band lives in a different state, so we are doing it all internet run) but once we have the music perfect, we will work on recording it and then i'll post it here.
I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

So far, what I've written ranges from heavier art rock to more fusion style. Strong Rush influences. I have none of it on tape or anything though, so I can't share it with you.

Unfortunately I play all the instruments. I could really use a drummer. And vocals would be nice. thanks for listening!

I'm not convinced that what I write is Prog, although some think it is. Possible prog-influenced, But its certainly NOT vintage prog.
