Argentina-Ivory Coast 2-1
Holland-Ivory Coast 2-1

So we are on the same level as Argentina LOL !

OK, to be serious, our marking in the defence was poor, our midfield was invisible, the forward players were too selfish and the Dutch team made many, too many fouls. Thanks to some brilliant moments we were lucky to win from Ivory Coast, what a pity they have to go home after their game against Serbia .. Cry !

But on the other hand, isn't it a quality to go through to the 1/8 finals after two games.. Wink ..?!

Couldn't have put it better myself - Crouch's pinpoint accuracy, coupled with our midfield's interesting tactic of fannying around in the middle of the pitch to give the opposition's defence time to sort themselves out, means that we will see an Englishman lift the World Cup - assuming we all live to at least 140.

hahah...  you all did look out of sorts in the first half... other than that...bad luck (a couple of posts) and one hell of a save...and it could have been 2 or 3 to nill,  you all deserved 3 points out of that. Those last 10 minutes were quite exciting to watch.

micky:

Are the US playing Italy tomorrow? Wouldn't bet on them......

I think, in terms of achievement vs potential, the US have disappointed me more than any other team so far (I expected England to be crap; but, yes, it's early days, and the US might yet qualify for the next round.) I had a sneaking feeling that they might be this year's surprise semi-finalist, in the same way as South Korea & Turkey were last time around. They have been steadily getting better, year on year, and I thought they were up for a big breakthrough. But, against the Czechs, they were - well, a bit limp, to be honest. Tidy, neat, as always, but with no threat. Well coached, as always, but when you see the aggressiveness with which the Americans play American Football, baseball, basketball or ice hockey, the soccer players seem - well, somewhat girly Embarrassed. (One could be mischievious and suggest that in soccer, unlike, say, baseball, steroids are not tolerated, and that this might account for the difference in aggression.) Strange that the US can't find a Ronaldo (as was - not this years version), a Crespo, a Drogba, a Robben - or even a Rooney. My wife (a Yank by birth) thinks it might be because the best athletes go where the money is - the big 4 sports mentioned earlier, or athletics - but surely there are enough left over to dominate at soccer? I'm puzzled.......

Vamos Argentina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing. Unlike our debut, here we played to our standard.

I wish they give more time to Tevez/Messi (the soccer virtuosos)

It's a shame that Lucho Gonzales is hurt, he's a great player.

IF USA WANTS TO WIN, THEY MUST SCORE WHEN THEY GOT THE CHANCE...IF THEY DON'T...ITALY WILL WIN FOR SURE...THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED WITH GHANA, TOGO AND EVEN IVORY COAST...EXPERIMENTED TEAMS ARE MERCILESS WHEN THEY HAVE THE CHANCE TO SCORE GOALS...
