For those that don't have this, it's important to understand that "the film was shot spontaneously in a day, and the intention was to bring the music directly to the screen in as pure, truthful and uninterrupted manner as possible." - as the booklet tells us

Well, honestly that's what you get.  Do you want more detail...

There are only three band shots in the entire 25 minute video.  Each lasts for at least 5 minutes I would guess, can't say for sure (of course a pscyadelic liquid light show).  Then there are a few other shots; meadows, trees, sunrise, sunset, etc.  There are only three camera angles of the band.  The first is horrible, but supposed to be angled at sunrise, but far to close to get that feeling.  Basically it's a zoom in on Renate and some other guy as they either sing or just stand there bored, waiting for their next part.  Occasionally a few other members walk into view, but the camera is still and never focuses on them.  After a long scenery shot, we get another angle of the band, this one pretty much straight on, although still not a full band shot.  I'll assume we are at mid-day as far as the sun is concerned.  The shot of the band a few more minutes later is farther to the left, and finally we see the two drummers, which was a surprise because I didn't know he would be there, that'd be the sunset i guess.

Blahbitty blah blah blah, the video is actually of pretty good quality, surprising for something that sort of "appeared."  The audio is not quite as good as the video, but still decent.  It would actually probably be better if it wasn't for the reason why I am posting this...

Now this is an official release, not a bootleg, so you expect a little from them to clean it up, and most importantly, make the audio and video synchronized, but guess what, it isn't.  It's about a full second off.  Now imagine Amon Duul II's Phallus Dei.  Now, imagine a bunch of weirdos playing it.  Now imagine the footage not going with the music. It's so painful.  It's hard to enjoy something this "out there" when not even the music matches the video.  Goddamn.  Would it have killed them to fix this?

Now I have to rip this onto my computer and fix it myself.  Which I have been trying to do, but of course it has some protection bullsh*t on it, and i have no idea on how to get by that.

Damn you Amon Duul II, I think this video would actually be pretty good, if you only had spent, I dont know, maybe 1 minute to move the audio track back a bit

As far as I know, Amon Düül 2 are not behind this release; the original movie was shot by Rüdiger Nüchtern for a tv-documentation. There were lots of technical problems during the shooting, which is why there are several moments of "black screen" in the movie (something that was regarded as "highly original" by reviewers back then LOL). You can read all about this movie (and a lot more about Amon Düül 2) in the excellent book "Tanz der Lemminge" by journalist Ingeborg Schober (who is, or at least was, the spouse of Rüdiger Nüchtern; both were friends of the Düüls).

Yes it is; as far as I know it was not translated into other languages.

Well I got to rent it at the library, so my curiosity got satisfied for next to nothing (€$£€-wise) and I would not really recommend this warmly >> interesting to see once, but not to be acquired
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

no, i think it's still alright, hahaha, it does have this very natural quality to it, which is nice, it certainly costs more than it's worth
