I really love this album, from the ham-fisted guitar to the girlie vocals and from the over-
blown concept right up to the masterpiece of mirth that is Cignus X-1 Book11. Long years in
the making, due to ego clashes and arguments about makeup,Elton John being part of the
recording process then not and finally producer Pete Waterman being replaced by Little
Jimmy Osmond, the band finally got this meisterwerk out into the public consciousness.Once
out there it was a smash, spending 16 weeks at Number One in Albania and going
Quadruple Platinum in Belize. When one listens to Geddy Lee's bass one is immediately
reminded of Chas n Dave's egregious masterpieces of the early 80's.I can think of no
higher praise than that. I find that "La Villa Strangiato" fills me with nostalgia,or should that
be neuralgia? I'm not sure but I know that Mrs Peart should have decided against that
shiny red kit for young Neal's 6th Birthday.- what can I say? Cignus X-1 Book11 I nearly
choked to death the first time I heard this 18 minute epic.It sounds like the ungodly
product of a demonic union between WS Gilbert and The Village People and is breath-taking
in its excrutiating awfulness and willfull over-ambition.There is nothing like a great Prog
Rock Album and this is nothing like a great Prog Rock Album

I have deleted it as it plagiarises a review I did of ELPs Works...

Yeah, it wasn't hard to find that review... Thanks.

I guess this gives away the album I'm getting ready to do a review on....  I was looking over older reviews and this one is listed.  Probably not a big deal, but is this really necessary?

KANSAS — Song for America

Review by James Hill (James D Hill)

5 stars The first great Kansas album.Symphonic brillance with great vocals. Why wernt there more great american prog bands in the 70s? Maybe it was because americans like to thin with there dicks more than there brains.

On second thought, I would hate to see it removed though 'cause the rating is certainly correct! LOL

MATCHING MOLE — Matching Mole

Review by AndreaSalvador

4 stars If "O Caroline" is an enormous and beautifulst POP the rest of this immense jawel trasude of Free Jazz that is pleasure! Canterbury School to 100% and without fear of refutation! Little LP of Free Jazz succeed in give the same emotions to me of this perhaps and in field Free Jazz Rock it is the only one! And sincerely this is not cold as many LP of this genre. If tried pure experimentation or the Matching Molle or the King Crimson. with the Matching Molle sure not mistaken. Word of Symphonic Age!

MATCHING MOLE — Matching Mole

Review by MANDRAKEROOT (Andrea Salvador)

4 stars CANTERBURY IS NOT ALONE ONE CITY OF ENGLAND...

I admit that I bought this disc alone for the presence of Robert Wyatt. Instead it is a CD of large music. Besides the musicians involved play with a simplicity ever (or almost) heard first.

I admit that "O Caroline" us door outside, because too POP. But the other composition... Large examples of Canterbury School to leave from "Instant Pussy" to pass "Dedicated To Hugh, But You Weren't Listening" or still passing for "Part Of The Dance", "Beer As Braindeer" all extraordinary examples of Free Jazz (but is not really Non Music like Free is). I should say that it listenned to really a lot well, mark that it is a still young CD.

Excellent CD to know the Canterbury Scene. And to love it.

For always yours, Mandrakeroot.

FLOWER KINGS, THE — Paradox Hotel
Review by hybreda

5 stars I don't know why people give one star to this masterpiece, but I believe this is one of the best albums done by Flower Kings by far. It is melodic, extravagant, yet tying you to your headphones with more than one CD, which is a huge advantage. I will not write much, since my feelings are mainly expressed by other 5-star reviews!

I'm not very content with this one, especially with the last phrase.

Gee, the review section reminds more of a fanfest, every time you open that page there's a whole bunch of five-star masterpieces.

There's a kind of stigma around 3 and 4 stars ratings which isn't justified, so the distribution of 5 stars is greater than Madre Teresa's donations.

3 and 4 stars are really fair ratings ranging from good to very good but some reviewers prefer the easy way and the 5 stars festival becomes the rule not the exception (not counting the notorious fanboyish).

Ehrrr, it's not really an inappropriate review, but somehow the Rush DVD Replay x 3 has been given an uncommented 4 star rating, while it's release date is still 2 days away...
