Topic: New Thom Yorke album hype thread Posted: June 10 2006 at 12:48 |
Inspired by the Muse thread, here's one about Thom Yorke's upcoming solo album "The Eraser", which is due for release on 10th July.
It's a bit like Kid A in many ways - in the textural experimentation and use of the voice as part of the textures... or so I'm led to believe.
Also like Kid A, it's minimal, and hence not immediately accessible, and shows that Thom has as much of a keen sense for exploration in music as his fellow band members.
That's all the spoilers you'll get from me

That's somehow a very, very cool album cover!

It's an excellent album, totally exceeded my expectations. I think it sounds a bit more like Amnesiac than Kid A..maybe a cross between the two.

I heard some of the songs from it... I loved Thom's voice in it more than ever. And if it's more like Amensiac, it's a match made in heaven.

A Thom Yorke solo sounding like Kid A/Amnesiac! Best news I've heard in long time. I'll wait for its release.

I finally have it myself. Can't decide wether its proto-prog or just prog-related. Ha-ha-ha.
Seriously I think its a great electronica album. Surprisingly
singalongable melodies. I especially love the Atoms for Peace track.
Fantastic, beautiful vocals! This makes me look even more forward to
the next Radiohead album. Hopefully similar, just bigger and even
better.
