Topic: You favourite modern prog band Posted: June 04 2006 at 14:08 |
Oh boy,I've created a poll,where I CAN'T vote!!!They're all stunning(except for RADIOHEAD maybe,he-he...)!!!
note:I meant not just newer bands, but bands pushing prog boundaries forward...anyway,if you decide to vote for somebody whom I haven't included I won't take it as offence!

Mars Volta, but Radiohead comes close. And Porcupine Tree are up there.

I'm having trouble deciding between Opeth, PT, and Radiohead
I think I'm going to go with Opeth because their latest release impressed me the most.
But yeah like somebody said, where is Godspeed?

TOOL is my favorite modern progressive band. Followed by...
Radiohead
Porcupine Tree
The Mars Volta
Godspeed You Black Emperor
Tortoise
Ozric Tentacles(been around since 1982)...so maybe not that modern
Opeth
I consider Massive Attack to be very progressive (Mezzanine and 100th Window are both amazing albums)

Slightly better poll choices than usually, I was forced to choose Opeth, although they are hardly the favourite to me, taking their post-MAYH sound into account.

All of they are awsome... but i don't put Muse in MY list. I don't know them too good. Any way, the other bands are incredible...

I chose Riverside from the list. But my favorite was Spock's Beard until Neal Morse left them.

If we talking about pushing boundaries - my vote goes for TMV.
Otherwise Anekdoten is best one from this list (not pushing anything - just doing great music).
Paatos are OK at times.
Others are very mediocre IMO.

Opeth, but it was a hard decision. Riverside comes close, very close. I
love both bands, but in a different way. I think 'Ghost Reveries' was
absolutely magnificent, as well as 'Second Life Syndrome'. It's just
different music.
And I haven't heard much yet of Anekdoten, but what I've heard, I absolutely dig!
