I remember loving Delirium when they released their first album - I was 11 years old! Wink
I also remember that, when I bought their first LP, the liner notes mentioned Colosseum and Blood, Sweat & Tears as major influences on the band. However, as Andrea said, it's true their later production was more complex than that, even if they could not easily replace a distinctive vocalist like Ivano Fossati (who is nowadays one of the most influential singers-songwriters on the whole Italian scene).

Delirium: they only released three albums, between 1971 and 1974. They are listed under the folk-prog sub-genre and have jazzy-influence. It is not completely correct in my humble opinion. With the second album (after the departure of famous singer-songwriter Ivano Fossati) they start to do more complex work: a sort of mix between Jethro Tull, KC and Van Der Graaf, but more naif in the structure.

Their third album "Delirium III: Viaggio negli Arcipelaghi del Tempo" is my favourite and is great!!!

Arti + Mestieri: jazz-rock/fusion (with a little bit of symphonic, to be honest).

Area: jazz-rock/fusion.
Perigeo: same.
Opus Avantra: RIO/ Avant prog.

....et cetera...ANDREW can help!!Clap

I pretty much only know Italy for the symphonic stuff, which i don't like all that much, but it doesnt mean i have to rule out the entire country..

so recommend bands and give brief descriptions

and... go
