Having learned recently that Atlantic are re-issuing their Rush album catalogue as remasters (including Vapor Trails), has anyone read/heard any quotes from Rush pertaining to the appalling original mastering of Vapor Trails? Normally I would consider these re-releases a rip-off but a remastered Vapor Trails would be equivalent to a Car manufacturer's re-call: embarassing but very necessary!

I barely play Vapor Trails because I can't get it EQ'ed properly.... I would defintely buy the remastered disc. I haven't heard anything about it though.

Fingers are crossed.

They are advertised on Amazon USA and mentioned on the wonderful Power Windows Rush site:

Atlantic Remasters: Although there has been no official announcement as of yet from Anthem Records, set for reissue on August 24, 2004, are remastered versions of Rush's studio albums with Atlantic: Presto, Roll The Bones, Counterparts, Test For Echo and Vapor Trails. Already listed on Amazon.com [click links to preorder], the remastering of Vapor Trails has been requested since shortly after its original release (audiophiles may recall the article "Over the Limit - Ceiling Limited" which discussed the poor mastering of the original release), and this fan hopes the spine copy on Presto is corrected so that it no longer appears upside down in the rack! - July 20, 2004

Stolen from the Power Windows web site. Sounds cool....
