OK, I admit it - I'm computer illiterate.
Do I not just copy pictures from the web into my post or do I have to copy them to a word document or something first?

As for the pictures...
  • I use a screen grab product called SnagIt to clip the pics from the 'net (you may also be able to drop them into Paint or Powerpoint and crop and copy)
  • I drop the pics into MS Word and size them between 3cm to 5cm high as necessary
  • Standard Word drawing features are used to add text boxes, boxes, arrows, Word Art, etc.
  • When the puzzle is finished in Word, I use SnagIt again to cut it from the screen
  • I then paste it into Paint and save the pic as a jpeg
  • Next is Photobucket [ www.photobucket.com ] - I import the picture into Photobucket, then copy the Photobucket URL to add it to ProgArchives ... the button at the top of the Post window with a tree on it.

How simple is that!

Hi Firepuck, does this help Question (This is from way back at page 17 or so ... took me ages to find again.)

Another wonderfully crafted puzzle by T.Rox. Clap

One almost doesn't dare Wink to come up with something simple as this:

A song.
"We've got to get in to get out"

Al: Sky Burial it is and the band is Violent Silence.
Your's has to be Winchester Cathedral by the New Vaudeville Band.

For the next one I'd like to give you a hint: The solutions to the pics are in English, but in the end you'll have an album title in French!

Welcome to the Progressive Rebus, Firepuck, and thanks for your puzzle. I'm afraid it doesn't fully match with the rules of the game, but as we can see from Memo's answer, it's close enough. Nevertheless I'd like to ask you to stick to the rules, as we've had something like this before.

The one you dind'nt solved was "Jethro tull":
"Jet-throat-toll"

That's not really a proper rebus.  The idea is that a picture is spelt the same (with the possible addition or removal of letters) as the word (or portion of the word) it's supposed to represent, or it sounds the same.  "Jet-throat-tool" is too far removed from "Jethro Tull".

Thanx and please don't feel put off, we love to get new puzzles!

Memo: I can't really decipher your third pic, so all I can do is guess. Is it "Cabezas De Cera"?

Here we have an album title:

"We've got to get in to get out"

Hi Firepuck, good to see you in the thread! Clap

Butterflies And Hurricanes by Muse is spot on! Tongue

I agree with Guzzman re the stretching of the rules of rebus, but I am sure you will get the hang of it and enjoy the thread.

From a player's perspective it would be clearer if you joined with + only those pictures that make up one word. Thumbs Up

Anyway, like I said, "Good to see you in the thread!"

Guzzman, yours would be The Marionette by Mad Tea Party ... took a little getting, too Big smile

A four-word song title...

The pic with lots of people doing something ... I'm only after the singular!
