While we're on the topic - there are two i's in 'aluminium', and words like 'organise' and 'realise' are spelt with 's' rather than 'z' - the latter being merely a not so cunning ploy by the transatlantic ex-colonials to boost their scrabble scores.

Yep, nazi was a bit too strong, as were the jabs against ones inteligence and deciphering capabilities. Sorry. I like the 'nice' vibe here and don't want to be the one to disturb it. Replace nazi with a word with strength somewhere between strict and nazi. I would think official Prog Archives reviews to be the correct place to make things grammatically correct. |

I won't go into spelling since we can see what you were saying but I will tell you that 'i' should be 'I' since it refers to yourself and is used in place of your name and is therefor a proper noun and should be capitalized (or if your not part of the vast transatlantic colonial conspiracy maybe 'capitalised'). Otherwise I might think i actually means something other than I, although I see where i can mean nothing other than I. |

It wasn't particularly a comment aimed at you, just one hung on your convenient words
However, I do distinguish between those native speakers of English who could (and should) talk (ie type) correctly, and those for whom English is not their first language.
In my opinion, if one could speak correctly, but doesn't, or is too lazy to correct one's typos, then that is as insulting as if one spits half chewed bagel in my face while conversing; neither deserves (or receives) respect, or a polite reply.

ha ha ha!
I am finding this thread really funny! I do a lot of typing in my work..........I spend a lot of time correcting it and making sure it is up to standard.......... when I come here I am participating in a past-time, a hobby, a conversation, hell just being here (and not working) is being lazy. If my laziness is a problem, you need to get a napkin ready to wipe that bagel! P-C |

Ah, well, in my everyday (real) life, I meet more farmers & yokels than anything else.....it's a relief to get online & (see) talk real English, rather than some incomprehensible rural dialect..............with multiple swear words & a vocabulary with 75 different word for manure.........."manure" itself not being one........

Just another thought on this... The titles and lyrics of today's pop and rap songs don't help...Things like Doncha for Don't You and Witchu for With You just give me the Tom-Tits ... and our kids accept it and learn from it ... unfortunately

That's true, but I read a couple of Prog Archives reviews this week that made no sense at all, and I don't mean the one that came in in Spanish yesterday... |

Too bad, indeed. This problem is not even restricted to English, it's the same in Dutch and I expect in every other language as well. Luckily my 4 year old daughter loves fairies and keeps asking for Blackmore' s Night instead of MTV Angelo B.t.w. I think I will stop participating in this thread, the pressure of not making a spelling error is getting to big for me. |

Ok CT, that's the best reason I have heard in this thread. If I promise to do my best with my grammar/spelling etc. Will you guys promise to ignore the odd mistake?

Sorry, I couldn't resist it
