Forgive me, but for some crazy reason I have had this incredible obsession with Tales From Toporaphic Oceans. I can't stop listening to it.
Anyway, I'm curious what you think. I'm starting to think that this is the best album in Progressive Rock period.

I think it's excellent, but I wouldn't say I love it. 4 stars.

This was an album that had eluded me for years. No one I ever knew had it, so I never heard it. I started thinking about it again, but was hesitant to buy because of the negative opinions. I just got it, and I really like it. I'm sure it will become love, as it gets better with each listen.

I have been listening to this album off and on since it came out. I lost touch of the album for a while and recently came back to it. Not because of the material itself, but more because of life changes etc.
It definitely takes a lot of spins to really appreciate it. I still hear things to this day listening to the album and no other album I have ever heard and love is like this album. It took me a while to really get into this album completely, but now I can see what their vision was. Jon Anderson was right.

I'll agree with that.

Yes's most challenging album - if you like this album, and I do very much, then you have certainly conquered the Yes catalogue. Highly recommended!

five star masterpiece Yes's best material. I don't understand why this is called overindulgent when there is Soft Machine's Third which is a double album with four 20 minute parts but yet is not bashed like Tales, strange Ermm

5 stars from Micky... and furthermore considered amoung the essential... of the essential prog albums.  It's like trying to learn mathematics without knowing Algebra.  Every prog fan should have this album..period.  Seriously... what self-respecting prog fan does NOT have an opinion on this album.

Double LP, yes, but it's no double album.

Seems like I'm the first to vote hate - loved all the Yes albums up to that point - but find is dissonant and harsh - try it every few months but just isn't going to excite me.

I just spotted something curious. To date 235 people have viewed this poll and only 32 have voted. Even allowing for double visits that's still kind of surprising - after all once you're here - why note vote? Can't be many who have not heard said album.
